The pump is fairly simple, however you will need to remove the clutch and sprocket to gain acsess to it, start by removing the two bar nuts and the chainbreak side cover, remove the guide bar and chain, the clutch is just spun onto the crank left hand thread, there are two cut a ways in the clutch centre, this is to take a special tool, once inserted into the cut a ways you use a 19mm spanner to jar the clutch off against compression, an impact wrench works well, the tool is part no. 530031112, you could maybe make a pin spanner to do the job, once the clutch is removed the sprocket will just pull off, there are then two cross head screws securing the pump assembley, the drive gear is pressed onto the crank, the pump pinion runs at right angls to the drive gear, the pinion is nylon so check the condition of the gear, behind the gear is the pick up pipe and filter, you will need to pry off the silver bar protection plate.

Automatic chain oiler on my Partner s 55 chain saw doesn't work

First check the lines to make sure they are clear of chips. Use only bar and chain lube. If this does not work, the pump may be bad and need replacing.

I have a craftsman 16" 36cc chain saw. Engine

First thing is make sure chain brake is not engaged is so equipped. Next make sure that chain tensensioner is not to tight to allow chain to rotate. I wouuld remove bar and chain from saw and spray both several times with WD-40 and work chain link by link until they all move freely.Clean and lube guide channel on bar and make sure that bar is not dented or badly rusted. If all else fails replace bar and chain. Good luck and thank you.

Brand new poulan pro 4620avx--bar oil is coming out of oiler but not getting onto chain

Hello. Thin your bar oil just a wee bit with some kerosene. If you have a gallon of bar oil add 1/4 cup of kerosene, stir it up and you will be fine. For starters also, directly apply some bar oil to the chain so that you are always using a well lubed chain. Joe

Doesthis thing need oil or some other liquid type

The bar and chain require bar oil (only) to be placed in the capped tank. The motor itself is air cooled, and should be blown out with compressed air often to remove the accumulated sawdust. Make sure the chain is tightened just enough to prevent the lower part of the chain from drooping from the bar and can be turned by hand. Make sure to keep the chain teeth sharp by properly filing for best cutting. Test the chain oil pump operation by running the saw with the chain tip near a piece of cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil after a moment or two of running. Hope this helps!

Ryobi 40cc chain saw oiler not working correctly

Check and clean the oil filter from oil tank.Check the worm gear wich engages with the oil piston pump(under the clutch).Near the hole where the oil comes out from oil tank there is an oil tank valve(see if it is clogged),it equalises the presure between interior and exterior of the oil tank.
