You can not connect broadband ( 10/100 Base Ethernet connection ) to a phone line. The input jacks are different size.

Trying to connect to wireless internet on my mini dell inspiron

SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband andInternet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network which uses the mobile/cell phone network and can beseparate or combine with your cell phone account
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include amodem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service and yourlaptop has a wireless card then you can also connect to the Internet at WiFihot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access theInternet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to checkthe service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to checkwith the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and thecost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed themonthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installationCD.

To connect to the Internet, certain hardware and services are needed, which are listed below. Without any one of these items, connection to the Internet is not possible.
  • Broadband Internet Service (also known as Internet Service Providers or ISP) - Telephone companies (also known as DSL, which uses a telephone line) and cable TV companies usually offer Internet service.

  • Broadband Modem - Normally, a broadband modem can be rented or purchased from the ISP.

  • Computer with a Network Adapter - This is usually a device located inside the computer.

  • Broadband Router - A router is used to connect all of your computers to the network (but is not needed for a single computer). The router also provides a way to connect to the Internet through the Broadband Modem.

Bt hub 2.0, the internet light is red, but the telephone line works, although it's very noisy/crackly. have changed the micro filters but still cannot connect to the internet.

It sounds like you have a fault on your phone line which is affecting the performance of your broadband.

As long as you haven't added any more phones to your house without a splitter, then I would go with the problem being your phone line.

You might want to give BT Broadband (assuming you have BT broadband with the BT Hub) on 0800 111 4567 they will be able to advise you further, failing that, you may need to log a call with BT about the phone line itself, which is just 151 from the line that you are having problems with. It is always best to phone from the line that you are having problems with, so they can hear that there are problems with the line.

Hope that this information helps! :)

Hi I have a laptop of Dell & i have a phone of Samsung Mode GT-C3053 Handset GPRS Compatible I want to connect my phone to laptop for using internet Can you have any solution

Are you hooked up to the net through your phone company? If so, all you need to do is plug a phone cord into the right place on the PC, & be sure to hook up a filter they sent you from the company, if there will be phones hooked up to the same line. If you have a line dedicated ONLY for internet use, just plug in the cord, run the disk they sent you, & you're set. Do you have dialup or broadband? That also makes a difference. Dialup you can do the above & add a phone running from PC also, np. BUT if you have broadband & you want to have a phone & PC hooked up to same line, you want the phone to come off a line BEFORE it gets to the PC, as the filter thing is important. Put filter on the phone line. If you have broadband & a phone that runs off line from PC, you will hear horrible sounds louder than voices on the phone. Ask my ears, I tried that. :) If all that doesn't help, ask again & tell us lots more about it, OK? :) More info helps a lot.

I need help connecting a westell 7500 router/modem,i want to get a notebook on line. i didnt receive any intsructions.i need help connecting the westell 7500 to my pc and notebook thanking you.

Westell makes a line of broadband home networking products that enable residential customers and users in small businesses to access and share broadband services. These inexpensive DSL router/modems offer multi-users Internet LAN access for home or business applications. The Westell router/modems allow you to have the benefits of the "always on" high-speed broadband Internet connection without losing the ability to receive voice calls over the same phone line.
  1. Step 1 288254_thumb.jpg Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the computer's Ethernet port. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Westell router.
  2. Step 2 Connect the barrel end of the router's power cord to the connector labeled "12 v" on the back of the router. Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.
  3. Step 3 Connect one end of the DSL phone cable to the DSL line jack on the back of the router. Connect the other end to the wall jack.
  4. Step 4 Wait for the Ready and the Link LEDs to glow steady green. The router is now ready to use.

The magic jack is pluged into the phoneline directly

OK.. First of all, I am hoping you understand the basics of the MagicJack concept ?? Highspeed Internet connection on your PC, MagicJack plugged into your USB port, with a phone plugged into the other end of the MagicJack ? It requires High Speed, no dial up, and marginally works on my wireless Broadband due to atmospheric influences. It DOES work on my bluetooth wireless cell modem just based on the better speeds I get from the modem vs. my wireless Broadband.

1. If you have a Cable Modem or Wireless Broadband Dish for internet, follow the steps below.. IF you have DSL, skip to # 2.. if you have Dial-up skip to # 3,

I personally own wireless Broadband, so my ongoing experience is from here. I own a MagicJack for traveling and a Vonage line, for my house fax line service because the MagicJack is not strong enough, power wise, to push through my CAT/5 house, phone lines. Vonage does provide phone for the entire house, for the most part, cleanly, because Vonage uses a powered router to provide the final signal, which I then jumber over to a phone jack to connect into the house. It also requires that you disconnect your external phone lines, that would normally go back to the "Big Bad Phone Company". This can be done at the demarcation point, where your regular phone lines connect into a box, outside your house ? The internet I have, is in my shop, about 150' from the main house, Vonage's router power's the whole house, just fine.

2. With DSL, you will have good solid speeds, but you will still have the issue of, MagicJack, being too low in it's power source, because it comes from the USB port of your PC. You are basically going to be stuck with a single wireless or corded phone, for the MagicJack service. In this case, since the DSL is fed through the BBPC phone lines, you will not be able to 'pipe', even Vonage back through your house phone lines.

3. If you're on dialup, you're going to have poor service, out of the box.. you're just not going to be fast enough to be clean.

As an added note.. Your query for help is concerning.. again, high speed internet into your PC, MagicJack plugged into your PC's USB port, the phone plugs into the MagicJack's RJ-11 phone port.

Thank you for your time in these matters.

Respectfully,

Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop - Can't connect to internet

The NIC (network interface card) is integrated into the motherboard of the 2400 computer. Most likely that circuit is bad. To fix it you’ll have to replace the motherboard or purchase a NIC card and install it into one of the PCI slots on the motherboard.

Can't locate a Modem connection

Ok, First off, Yes, if you have a plug in the back of your computer that allows a standard phone connection wire from computer to the wall, that usually means you have a modem. If you have the ability to get Broadband internet, my suggestion is to get that instead. Its more reliable and doesnt have an automatic disconnect feature that AOL has always had. Also, if you already have broadband, then you can connect with AOL directly through the broadband connection and skip the Modem use entirely. Best i can tell you, other than if your computer is not finding the modem, that means its been either disabled or is missing the drivers.
