Opening speakers will irreparably damage it. The interior volume is calculated to provide optimum performance. For this reason they are essentially sealed with tape and are not meant to be opened.

'96 maxima with no tail light, no radio power, sometimes the car's interior light does not work too. Would like to try and fix it myself. Your help will be highly appreciated.

Taillights: Check 7.5A fuse 14 in the fuse block

Radio: Check 7.5A fuse 40 and 10A fuse 21 in the hybrid electric control unit. If you have the midline radio with separate amplifier, check 15A fuse 25 as well. If you have the premium radio, check 15A fuse 22 rather than 25. The wiring may have gotten mangled during the earlier speaker installation.

Possible but highly unlikely. You cant check them to be sure if not, check to see if the amp for your subs has a phase switch on it. Also check to see if is has a bypass EQ and change it to a lower setting (low pass filter). Good Luck.

you have a serious electric/wiring problem. if you recently did some do-it-yourself work (like installing speakers) you may have messed something up while inside the "car's guts". I suggest you take it to a mechanic qualified to fix electrical wiring problems. I know it's the expensive choice, but it's only a matter of time until your windows won't go up.

Typically the best way would be to remove the interior trim piece from the shelf. Then have a friend hold the MDF board up from inside the trunk. Then run either screws or bolts/nuts through from the interior all the way through the MDF. Replace interior trim piece and it should be held in tight.

Another less intrusive way would be to use a strong adhesive, such as "Liquid Nails" to secure the MDF to the bottom of the shelf. You'd need to figure a way to hold the MDF to the bottom of the shelf for quite awhile (8-24 hours) to make sure their is good adhesion.

Interior speakers cut out when the volume is turned up

You may have speakers of an incorrect impedance attached to the unit since the problem occurs when audio signal level is increased and the current goes up.The unit is shutting down to prevent damage. I would check the speaker connections and make sure that the speakers impedance are matched for the unit you are using.
