the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a sony handycam hdr-cx7. I am able to download/save the still images, but can't figure out how to get the hd videos off the camera.

ok, when you have a High def camcorder like this one it only holds Memory sticks... at the end when you connect the camcorder to the computer the memory stick is recognized aswell for the still images, but the videos are not becuase the format of the videos are AVCHD, wich is just compatible with certain softwares, the camcorder comes with the software it is called "Picture Motion browser", if you dont have the disk you can download it from here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=HDRCX7, software is compatible with Windows XP and Vista OS but not for Macintosh ok!. Once you connect the camcorder the " USB Select" or " USB connect" will come up, so you will select it and once the software is installed it'll do everything for you.
Hope this would be helpfull.
If you have problems just let me know i work for Sony camcorder support.

Many times the older version drivers will work as new released operating systems try to be backwards compatible with software. Try loading the XP software or search the Canon website for updated software for your model.

I have a 2004 Canon video camera (mini dv cassette) and a 2007 Macbook. With long-time intentions, I am finally getting around to connecting them, though when I did, the software included with the camera...

You don't specify which model you have, but all models produced in 2004 and later are compatible with Mac X OS 10 operating systems for downloading video. The software that came with the camcorder is primarily for downloading still images, not for video. Go to this link. In the first dropdown, select "Camcorders", and in the second select "MiniDV Camcorders". In the third dropdown, find and select your model and click on GO. In the seach window in the center of the screen type "mac compatibility" and click on Search. You will find several related documents which provide information on downloading video and other topics.

Have upgraded to Windows XP. Do I require new Camedia software as Camedia Master 2.0 version that I have with my Olympus C-3030 Zoom will not install. Thanks - Jamie Gardner

The camera is a standard connect camera and what we recommend for XP and Vista users is to look into purchasing a smartmedia card reader that connects to USB port so that you are able to transfer images using the reader as opposed to connecting camera to PC. The camera connection is not XP or Vista compliant.

Windows NT4 and Windows 2000

Windows 2000 A new camera TWAIN driver (version 0.1) compatible with Windows 2000 is now available for download. The new TWAIN driver will allow photo transfer using most image viewing or editing programs that are TWAIN compatible. NOTE: In order for the version 0.1 driver to work correctly, the PhotoMAX software must also be compatible with Windows 2000. The PhotoMAX SE software originally included with the Fun! Flash 640 is not compatible with Windows 2000. If you use your camera and computer with the original PhotoMAX SE software, contact the Polaroid Parts Department for more information about purchasing a PhotoMAX software upgrade. Windows NT4 No TWAIN driver is available for use with Windows NT4.

Moving Video from my camera to my PC

You will need third party hardware and software in order to transfer moving video from your camera to your PC. Depending on what camera you have, a few different options are available to you. For more information on IEEE 1394 connectors locate the websites of manufacturers of this hardware. The following manufacturers firewire products were tested with JVC camcorders: Pinnacle Systems, Belkin, Orange Micro, Digital Origin, Ratoc . Please be advised that compatibility of JVC camera with firewire card may also depends on your particular computer specifications/hardware settings. Even though we tested the above hardware and bundled software there will be always exceptions and JVC doesn’t guarantee that computer, firewire card and JVC camcorder will interface flawlessly in everybody case.
