I need to know what brand and type of oil to put in my cub cadet rt 65 tiller

As 1st option,It would be best to call the manufacturer Cub Cadet,or their Authorized Repair Center, and ask them directly.
Refer to the manual that came with the tiller.

As 2nd option, a general small engine repair shop can be helpful too.

Have a nice day.

Every 25 hours change the oil using SAE30 or 10W30 oil. Go online to the manufacturer for service manual.

What type of oil does a troy built tiller use? I have lost my book.

This is dependent upon what the engine application on the tiller is. If it's 2-stroke, use a quality synthetic or semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil mixed with the gas. If it has a 4 stroke engine use SAE30 oil, unless you run synthetic (which I highly recommend), then you can use a multi-viscosity oil if you like, say 10W-30.

Oil in my tiller

Unless you live in a cold climate, ordinary 30W motor oil is fine. In cold climates, 10W-30 may make starting easier. You don't need expensive synthetic oil. Sounds like you want to take good care of your equipment. Tip: the air filter is a critical component in tillers since they work in dirt constantly. Check it regularly and change it when dirty. That will do the most to prolong the life of the engine. Good luck, and please rate my advice if you find it helpful, thanks!

My neighbor let us use his troy built tiller and it needs oil but he doesn't know what type of oil to put in the transmition. please help

The recommended lube for a Troy Bilt transmission is 140 Gear Lube. It's tough to find. If you use lighter oil, the trans seals will likely start to leak.
