No lights - Acts Like It Has No Power At All

see the diagram and pictorial and proceed with common sense:
1) test the fuse for open or band contact with VOM,see the diagram attached how to do it
2)check the switch door hook or door release button, when they are broken they do not touch the switch, and will NOT start. test for open
see the diagram

My GE spacemaker xl1400 model JVM1451BA 001 DOES NOT TURN ON, serial # HT9897895 , it wont make a noise or nothing, not lights, someone told me its a fuse, but I dont know what the fuse is called to go to...

First try plugging it in a different power outlet to eliminate a possible defective AC outlet, than if it still does not work, your friend could be correct it could be a fuse, if you have electrical skills you can verify your self. first unplug the power cable, than unscrew the cover to get to the electronic board, locate all the ceramic fuses and with a good multimeter set to (Ohms) check the continuity of all fuses if it reads 0 ohms it's good if it reads nothing than it is bad, replace that fuse with the same amperage and type than put the cover of the oven back, plug the power cable and give it a test if the fuse burns again than the problem is much worse, it could be a defective safety switch on the door frame or a defective circuit board, take it to a good repair shop...

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE BEFORE OPENING THE UNIT!!!

Hope this helps!

No power, display is dead. Is there an internal fuse that can be replaced?

Sorry to read about your problem.
It seems your have a general failure in the power control or switch failure on the unit. if you unit has power, and things lite. it is more likely you have a control/switch problem,

Their is no fuse to replace

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck

I had a fire in the microwave and now it doesn't turn on. Is there a reset button or do I have to go buy a new one? cbierke@gmail.com

It sounds like an internal fuse has blown. Unplug unit and carefully open the top cover to provide access to the A.C. power cord entry point. Hopefully the fuse is located in that area and is the older style 1/2" long glass or ceramic body with metal endcap on each end. ONLY REPLACE WITH A FUSE THAT HAS IDENTICAL ELECTRICAL RATINGS! After replacing the fuse and top cover reconnect the unit to the A.C. outlet and check to see if it is still dead. Still dead = repair shop time.

NOTE: Use a "fused" A.C. outlet strip (usually 6 outlets with circuit breaker) for your "after fuse replaced" testing. This gives you additional protection against accidentally tripping a breaker in your homes electrical panel.

Were the potatoes wrapped in foil? If so, the megatron tube was burned out. Replace unit.

The mircowave has no power, outlet works, just mirco strop workin

HI, the popping sound that you herd was the result of a failed HV capacitor. This failure will render the unit inoperable, as you has witnessed at this time. Replacing this failed HV capacitor, will correct this issue. I would also advise to check the cut-off fuse and in-line AC fuse as well. There may be some issues concerning the integrity of these fuses as well.

The microwave runs for 3 to 4 seconds and then shuts down. I have to re enter the time, date and press start. It runs for 3 to 4 seconds and I repeat. Other times, it works just fine. But needs restarts...

If it is resetting, there is a chance that the problem is not with the microwave but the AC supply. These units draw a bunch of current and if there are any sloppy connections or a bad outlet (if plugged in), the connection can fail long enough to drop the AC input far enough to turn the unit off.
A circuit breaker (in your main power panel) can cause this too; I've replaced bad breakers in our new home already that were doing the same kind of thing your microwave is doing.
A bad AC connection can also be a fire hazard since they are also capable of getting hot enough to start a fire.
If the source of AC is via an outlet, check around it to ensure that there is no discoloration of the outlet's exposed plastic. If ther is, that is a sure sign of poor contact between the unit's plug and the outlet's contacts.
There is a remote chance that the magnetron is developing an internal problem; these are vacuum tubes of a sort and have a fast-heat heater element in a cathode that spits out electrons. One type of failure is when the cathode and heater come in contact because of the expansion of the heater element (happens each time it is turned on) then a very high voltage is brought into contact with the heater and causes a momentary short and high currents.

Cuts off after 2 seconds

Just a hunch; plug it in to a different outlet.

AC outlets are only marginal when new and that unit can draw well over 10 amps.
If the contacts are failing, the unit will think it has been disconnected, killing off the clock setting too.

If that doesn't help, try plugging another high power appliance, an iron, toaster or coffee maker, into the same outlet used for the GE to see if they behave normally.
