Factory alarm i need to know where and how to find the reset switch for the factory alarm for a 1997-1998 ford contour. or if possiable another way to reset it, because the clicker for the car was misplaced or lost.

If it is the factory system that needs to be reset, unfortunately you will need a Ford IDS, which most large shops have or your local Ford dealer. If it is the aftermarket alarm system that needs resetting, then you need and authorized dealer of that alarm system.

Have you tried unlocking the drivers door with the key? This is a common way to re-set a factory alarm system. If you have an aftermarket alarm there is often a small toggle switch mounted under the drivers side steering column.

CAR ALARM ISSUES

It can be any of the car doors not got properly locked or the door is locked but the switch is not sensing the door locked. Open and close each door again properly.

Or else its problem with any of switch wiring getting in contact with alarm wiring causing it to happen.

And last thing alarm connections need to be inspected. It's getting short somewhere in between.

Try using your key in drivers and passengers door to lock and unlock it. That works on some vehicles to reset/disarm, security/anti-theft systems. Otherwise you may have to check owners manual or call Ford dealer service dept for quick instructions.

you may need to have a relay installed to the starter to ensure the starter solinoid recieves the correct opperating voltage.

dealer only ,its built into the ECU have you pushed the fuel cut off switch back down to reset it ?? under the bonnet with a red rubber top on it about an inch square

this is the inertia switch.(fuel cut off switch) i hope this will help you. let me know.

contact your local dealer. they may be the only ones who can get you the part you need. call them and ask for the parts department. than explain to them what you need. they may ask for your vin number to look up exactly what switch is needed for your alarm.
