Question about Cuisinart DCC-450 Coffee Maker

Open Question

I have a Cuisinart DCC-450 4-Cup Coffeemaker. Bought last July. Suddenly stopped pumping the water through. Heats up just fine; but only a little dribble of water comes out and then just steam. Started all at once; not a slow deterioration. As though something isw blocking the water valve entrance. Tried pure white vinager overnight to clean. Tiny bit gets through. No real improvement. Can't see how to take the screws out to desassemble.

SOURCE: Cuisinart DCC-2000 Coffeemaker

Thanks!  That's good to know.  I found my manual, and decided we hadn't cleaned it recently.  I filled the reservoir with 1/3 white table vinegar and 2/3 water.  That didn't seem to do anything, So I took a syringe and an IV catheter, (it helps to be in health care) and squirted some of this down "sprinkler".  We let it sit a couple of days and every now and then, turned on the coffee maker, and in a couple of days it went.  We put it through again withthe same solution (to clean calcium deposits) and then with water a few times to get rid of the vinegar smell.  It's been working well for two days now.

We have the same intermittent problem with the on/off switch on our DCC 2000C......don't know if the switch is bad (we hear it click when turned on) or if the water pump is intermittent. Either way, the end result is no coffee and concern about a potential fire. Today, after reading a post by a DCC 1200 owner with the identical problem, I called 1-800-726-0190 and spoke with a young man who was most helpful. Although, we cannot locate our proof of purchase, we believe the serial number indicates manufacture within the warranty period. He said we will receive a replacement in 7-10 days and then we must return the malfunctioning unit in the same box along with a $10.00 check. We'll see how it goes and post again if it doesn't happen as I've described.

SOURCE: Our Cuisinart DCC 2000 is dead after only 6

This model has a VERY WELL-KNOWN and wide-spread design flaw. The condensation runs down the back and destroys the micro-computer that runs the works. Cuisinart has been less that forth-coming and just replaces with another, equally boadly designed, replica that then, gee, what a surprise! - also fails in about 9 to 12 months.

Great idea but a BAD design and a less than responsible manufacturer.

Maybe if they caught fire like the old Mr Coffee's then the manufacturer would step up to the plate and solve the problem rather than hoping that their customers just get tired of having to fight.

I have the same problem. Called Cuisinart and they told me to add a mix of 50 - 50 water vinegar and let it sit for up to 3 hours. (even though it is only 3 months old) If that does not work call them back 1-800-726-0190.

My Cuisinart Brew Central Coffeemaker DCC-1200 Series has quit working? Is it under warranty?

you would have to determine if you are speaking under store credit warranty, the store will replace it with recpt usually with in 30 days, etc. or manufacture warranty if you have one it is usually 90 days maybe 1 yr. if you bought with a credit card, you have additional warranty period from visa, mastercard. check your credit card for this protection

Set up for 12 cups. Starts ok but stops after

Unplug the coffeemaker for 20 minutes OR LONGER (not a second less). While it is unplugged, fill the water reservoir with 1/2 caraffe distilled white vinegar and 1/2 caraffe water. At the end of the twenty minutes, replug the coffeemaker and brew the vinegar/water just like it was coffee. You may have to run it through up to 3 times. If the vinegar/water cleaning fails to restore the coffeemaker to normal, you have a deeper issue. This product has a 3-year warranty, so call Cuisinart if you are within your 3 years.

Water won't move from reservoir/showerhead to carafe

You can try cleaning the unit first and if that doesn't work you can contact Cuisinart Warranty at 1-800-726-0190 and see what they can do for you. Do you have the original user manual that came with the machine?

As per my book on my unit (DCC-2000) you can try decalcifying the unit. I have never had any problems with that, but I use filtered water all the time and that may be the reason mine is working very well (except leak) after 18 months of age.

Per user manual....

Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits which form over time on the metal parts of the coffeemaker.

For best performance from your coffeemaker, decalcify the base unit from time to time. The frequency depends upon the hardness of the tap water and how often you use the coffeemaker.

To clean, fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Turn the coffeemaker on by turning the ON/OFF knob. One cycle should be sufficient to adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is completed and the five beeps sound, turn coffeemaker off. Repeat operation, this time using fresh cold water.

Good luck and I hope this helps your problem.
