Do you get an error message or number? If the batteries are good in the remote and I think 3rd button down on left is not working try resetting the micro-processor. To re-set this you have to press a pen or similar into the reset slot. (Bottom right of head unit).
Hope it helps, good luck with it.

How does the mute function work on the Kenwood KDC-5043U. Where do I connect the brown mute wire? I have a Samsung Galaxy S5

If you were installing a separate hands-free phone kit along with the Kenwood head unit, you'd connect the Kenwood mute wire to the muting output on the hands-free kit. This allows the other device to mute the audio from your radio while you're using the phone. If you don't have a hands-free kit, you wouldn't connect the Kenwood's mute wire to anything at all.

My boom box is on mute cant get off of mute. and i cant change functions

Only one thing you can do. Remove the batteries and unplug it from the wall for at least 15 minutes to allow a complete reset and try it. If it still in muting and you can feel the mute switch working then the unit undoubtedly has a bad microprocessor or eeprom or both. Either way you are not going to get it fixed. I have to be blunt here, there are no parts available for those $24.95 Chinese units.

Is there a MUTE BUTTON on the KD-G210 unit.

If mute button on your CD changer is not featured, then
there's none. Mute button are always located near the
volume control. You can switch it to off position if you
don't want sounds.

I need to turn of mute function on my deh-p35oo

There is a telephone mute cable at the back of the unit which has probably come into contact with another wire. Take the unit out and make sure the telephone mute wire is insulated properly.

This happened to me today.

My mute does not work

You will have to isolate the problem. HDTV, remote unit, infrared receiver in set.
Operate the mute from the buttons on the set to see if it works.
If it works then the problem is probably in the the remote unit since the infrared unit on the set is receiving other commands from the remote unit.
If it does not works then the problem is in the TV set.
(This is a better problem than having the mute on all the time.)

Mute on- no button?

The unit will display "Mute" for a myriad of reasons, but the most common seem to be that it is not receiving an RF signal from the microphone. Be sure that the batteries in the mic function properly, and that the mic is close enough to the receiver to get an initial signal.

Otherwise, check the menus - it doesn't appear to have a "hard" mute switch, but one of the "Soft" menus may have that information.

Alpine pkg-1000

Hello alpine_freak, You can disconnect power from the unit and this will kill the power feed to the system memory (the memory that hold commands from the remote)Now if this does not work I have seen where the unit indicated mute as a response rather than an actuator of an event. This is rare but it does happen. What could cause this is if the audio pre-amp goes out or is turned off by the mute button and there is no sound the unit detects this and indicates a mute. This I hope is not what is happening here, because this is a design flaw, the mute should turn off the pre amp and indicate a mute condition because the mute button was pushed, not indicate mute because of a no-audio condition. As said try to remove power from the unit and if this does not work, I would suggest finding a shop on fixya to take or ship your unit to for repair
