One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive boot up

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
one bad lead will end with a computer error

No screen image

Test with known good monitor. Consult a nerd at this point. They can diagnose things quickly. Its usually more obvious then you think.

If still no image, replace video card. You can buy a replacement online. Most likely you have something else going on. For example, You usually hear beeps from a PC if it is doesn't pass post testing during startup. This could also cause no video output. You would need to check PC memory and power supply as those two can cause many performance problems.

No signal on monitor, vga tested and ok

Did you check your monitor with other system or individually. If it works fine in these conditions then the issue belongs to your pc.
First of all, you have to confirm that is it the problem of VGA itself or the motherboard. For this, you have to see that does system beep when you start it because system with beeps having the error and the beep sound with continuous or 2-3 beeps relate with different issues. I am going to write down the beep conditions.

1 short beep Normal POST - system is ok 2 short beeps POST Error - error code shown on screen No beep Power supply or system board problem Continuous beep Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem Repeating short beeps Power supply or system board problem 1 long, 1 short beep System board problem 1 long, 2 short beeps Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA) 1 long, 3 short beeps Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) 3 long beeps 3270 keyboard card

When I start my computer up my Philips Monitor

Good day sir/maam, hi, the problem may not be your monitor but your PC, they produce the same symptoms if your PC has no video to display. does your monitor led/lamp lights up as turn on your computer? If you want to test your monitor, go bring it to a friend who has a computer, test it there. if it works, your pc has a problem, so try the following first.
  1. Open you PC side cover, locate the memory module, remove the momory by releasing the side clamps. clean the contacts using an eraser (pencil) then put it back, you will clicks as you put it back on, test again. Do it several times if the first try fails.
  2. Check your Power supply, does it gives out hot air exhaust?
  3. Did you hear one beep, (good) or several beeps(bad).
  4. As you power on the pc check your keyboard light, first set of lights (Num lock+Caps Lock+ Scroll lock) then second set of light (Numlock only). At this point your pc is good.
Hope this helps, let me know your progress.

Dell Vostro 1510 Power but no boot

Have you plugged in an external monitor to see if there is any output on the screen? You could have a LCD problem or the motherboard is shot. I would also remove the RAM from the machine to see if it gives you any beep codes. This will tell you if your computer is going through POST. If your computer gives you beep codes then theres a good chance your motherboard is still ok.

PC does not boot, no beep, no monitor output but fans and lights work.

Usually if everything inside the case is working (from best you can tell) and the monitor is not coming on it's one of two things.
1.) The video card is bad, if you are using on-board video this isn't too highly likely. To test just replace the video card if possible with any other compatible video card.
2.) The CPU has gone bad, in general I find that this is the most common scenario. Obviously to test you would need to replace the CPU.

Monitor blackscreen

If you have access to an external monitor then conncet that to the external monitor port. Holding the function key and F7 or F8 should switch the computer to the external monitor. If this is OK then I'd say your mercury lamp has burned out. If no access email back the beep code. You'll have to listen carefully. In either case this computer will need to be repaired by a reputable computer repair person.

Good Luck
