SOURCE: older amana electric dryer model #le8457w, wont heat up

You probably have a bad heating element. This is just about the easiest dryer to repair ever. Take the screws off the base and pull the front off. The heater is on the left on bottom and has all the fuses mounted on it. 2 screws hold the whole thing on. get it out and give it a look over for a bad coil. Not sure if it is bad? Take it to the appliance parts store and let them guys confirm if it has a problem. they will be glad to do so because they hate to have to give refunds on electrical stuff and they know the cust will get bent outta shape. Trust me. How do I know? Because my friend I used to own and operate an appliance parts store.

SOURCE: My Amana dryer model number LE7153WM does not heating

The thermal fuse and the heating element would be the likely suspects. Both can be checked with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity, it indicates a defective component. Neither is repairable and if either component is bad, it will have to be replaced. Hope this helped. Good luck.

SOURCE: whirpool amana dryer runs but no heat

HI, the timer motor is malfunctioning. this can affect the way you dryer heats in this case. I would advise to check the thermal fuse before replacing the timer. it is located on the blower house or, on the vent duct. in will show no continuity if defective. replace the timer if the thermal fuse is showing good continuity when measure with a meter.

My whirlpool dryer comes on and runs good but it wont get hot can you tell me whats the problem

Hello there and welcome to fixya there are several things that could make this dryer not heat up
Here are the most common things

Thermal Fuse

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, but the drum
turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer
from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is
blown, it will have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.

Help me find my model number

Gas Valve Solenoid

The gas valve has two or more electric
solenoids which open the valve to let the gas flow into the burner
assembly. If the dryer doesn\'t heat one or more of the solenoids may be
defective. If the igniter glows for 90 seconds but the burner flame
doesn\'t light, replace these coils as a set.

Dryer Igniter

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the igniter might
be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer
igniters burn out over time, similar to a light bulb.

Heating Element

The heating element on an electric dryer can
burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element should be
checked for continuity. The heating element cannot be repaired and must
be replaced if defective.

Heating Element Assembly

the heating element assembly on an electric
dryer can burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element
assembly should be checked for continuity. The heating element assembly
cannot be repaired and must be replaced if defective.

Flame Sensor

Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the
heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the flame sensor
might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not
as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.

High Limit Thermostat

Although not common, if the dryer doesn\'t
heat the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for
continuity. If the thermostat is "open" the dryer doesn\'t heat.

Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the
temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer doesn\'t heat it may be
caused by a defective cycling thermostat. This is not common.

Main Control Board

The main control board is normally not at
fault when the dryer doesn\'t heat. Check all of the other components in
this troubleshooting guide before replacing the main control board. The
main control board cannot be tested easily and must be replaced if it is
defective.

Timer
The timer is normally not at fault if the
dryer doesn\'t heat. In many situations where timers are replaced they
end up being returned. Check all of the more common components in this
troubleshooting guide before replacing the timer

Dryer tumbler for a short time then shuts off, will not run a full cycle like it stuck

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Timer
The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is bad and needs replacing. If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace the Heating Element.

Amana electric dryer timer doesn't advance during

If this is one of the electronic models: Clean the sensor strips located inside the drying area. As wet clothes rub against these the control monitors the resistance changes and knows the clothes are still wet therefore it continues to operate. When buildup from dryer sheets and fab softener get on them strips a barrier is formed that repels dampness. Therefore the control does not know the clothes are wet and goes to the end thinking all is Kosher. Clean them sensor strips with Windex and party on!

Hi, i have an amana dryer that the timer and the heating element quit at the same time.could the heating problem be coming from the bad timer?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

I think you have a failed cycle thermostat. The cycle thermostat provides power to the timer to advance the clock and the heating element. If the thermostat has failed it will not heat or advance the timer. Usually when just one side of the thermostat fails the timer will advance but the dryer will run and not shut off. There may a wiring problem on the C terminal of the cycle thermostat. (Burned / got hot / wire itself failed from heat )

If you can provide a model number I can probably locate he replacement parts information for you and possibly a wiring diagram.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
