I have a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter and a Cisco/Linksys WRT54GS Router. The signal is extremely poor even though the router is only 10 feet away. It does not appear to be an interference issue.

You can update the Linksys Firmware to a newer version if is available, please check the Linksys support site
Another chance is to change the Wireless Channel maybe 11, to avoid any intereference with wireless phones.

Low signal strength

Low signal strength could be an issue of the Wireless adapter. Check the property page of the Wifi card and in the Network tab check for the freequency ex: 802.11 b/g if the wifi supports the freequency to the max which is to be set.

Usually this issue happens when you have a wifi card or driver Installed.

Visit the web site for the manufacturer of the adapter, select your OS and find your driver. You will have to get the driver onto your laptop using a CD you will make unless you have a floppy drive.

Blue light not coming on and not connecting

I want to tell you that if your adapter not showing wireless light that means the drivers for the adapter is not installed or due to some reason drivers are corrupted. And i can suggest you either you can try the adapter on any other usb slot or try to install the adapter with the latest drivers.

I believe this will resolve your concern.

Wont detect any wireless networks

Go into hardware, then device manager in my computer properties or control panel and look down the list at 'network adapters'. Click the '+' sign adn check that your wreless adapter has not got a yellow!(exclamation mark) next to it, if so it's a driver error. If not right click on it then down to properties, then look in the 'device status' box, if it says code 10 it's faulty. If it says this device is working, look further down at 'Device Usage' and make sure it's enabled.
