Check the seat switch ,it has an auto kill seat switch that if a little out of adjustment then it wont do anything. When you messed with the battery area you probalby messed up the switch unvoluntarily. Check that Check the voltage(12 volts DC) to the switch(start)and back ,its there you can find it

If you have NO power showing on the dash then I would say it is the solinoid. Simple to change. Has 2 prongs and two bolts one of the bolts attach to the positive battery cable the other to the starter cable. It is secured to the mower body with 2 bolts also. Takes maybe 5 minutes to change. Make sure you disconnect the positive battery cable before working on your mower.

Tractor quit starting so I replace the battery. New battery worked fine for a few days but now tractor won't start.

Seems the first thing to do would be to check the battery. If it's dead, either you got a bad one, or it's not getting charged on the tractor so there will be trouble shootinig to do.

The battery in my JD lawn tractor was dead; it started and mowed several times with a jump start but eventually only the tractor would run while the mower would not engage. With a new battery installed,...

I suspect that the alternator/generator has gone bad, preventing the battery from chargine, or generating enough voltage to keep the electric pto on your mower engaged.

I think that it is located on the engine beneath the flywheel.

I hope this helps you.

Batt dead jump start does not seem to charge

Sounds like a dead or shorted cell battery. Charging system is probably working but is showing overcharge since it is trying to charge a brick. Replace the battery and all should be well.

Starting issue with John Deere 108 lawn tractor

If it seems as if the engine will crank maybe one or half turn then stop turning it maybe that the valve lash needs to be checked. When valve lash is more than .004 the compresion release will not be affective therefore the cylinders will have too much pressure built up to crank over.Set intake/exhaust valves at .004 when piston is 1/4 inch past top-dead-center on compression stroke.

hopefull your battery is just dead a new battery should fix that problem you can try charge the battery may be okay depending on how long it has sat without bein used.... otehrwise it mat be your starter solinoid it ts the block with 2 poles on it that your positive battery cable goes to, it will most likely be a dead battery tho...
