You don't need to. The only info left is the bios data, that is needed to use the laptop again with a new hard drive. All your personal data was removed when the drive was removed.

However, its still on the drive, so unless you're going to keep it as a back up or something you still need to destroy the data. A lug hammer would be a good start.

Try this:
If you want to reset the tablet. You need to press a combination keys to acces the interface of the recovery menu. While the tablet is off. Simply press the volume up then power and wait for a menu to pop up for the recovery. Select the Wipe data/Reset then select Yes. Then the device will process the request to reset it to default.

Wipe my data partition

you need to boot into recovery mode to wipe the data partition. Doing this will reset the phone's data partition. Doing this will delete all data off the device and return it to the same state it was in when you first powered it on.

  1. completely power off the phone
  2. press and hold the power, volume up, and home buttons until you see the Samsung logo
  3. use volume up/down to scroll and power to select
  4. scroll to and select wipe data/factory reset
  5. select yes on any following prompts
  6. reboot device
If the above process does not work on your device, see alternate methods to boot into recovery mode in the following link.

We bought the portege tablet version used and would like to completely wipe it and start fresh. I don't see a way to do that. Please help!

If the hard drive is still intact, press F8 at boot up and run the restore programme. That will reformat the drive and put it back as it was when shipped. If that is not available, place an OS disc in the DVD drive and boot from there choosing "fresh install" to format the drive and start again.
Hope that helps.
