Can you purchase ethernet card for gateway SX 2110

Hello Rharmon284.

Dallas PC Doctors helps with this sort of issue all the time. You have a Desktop PC which opens up. You have what is called 'expansion slots' that you can add a 'card' , just google wireless card for the type expansion slot you have. You can find details about your desktop at

You can also use a much simpler way of getting your wireless working and that is to just buy an external wireless adapter, and plug it into a USB port. Several examples are here and they are VERY easy to sue and install.

Good luck !

How to install an wirless adapter to mi desktop

Install a wireless network adapterIn areas that are served by a wireless network, you can connect to a computer network without using a cable, and surf the Internet or connect with other computers. To connect to a wireless network, your computer needs a wireless network adapter.
Many new computers-especially laptops-come with wireless adapters. Before using your computer, check to see if it already has a wireless network adapter.
If your computer doesn't have a wireless network adapter, you can install one.
Install a wireless USB network adapter. Most people prefer this type of adapter for any type of computer, because it's easy to install.
Install a wireless CardBus or CF network adapter. For portable computers, this type of adapter (also called a PCMCIA or PC Card) is easier to travel with than a USB adapter, because it is often smaller and fits securely in the PC Card slot on the side of the computer.
Install a wireless internal network adapter. If you have a desktop computer, you may prefer an internal adapter so that you can use the USB port to connect another accessory.
The type of adapter you install depends on your computer and your level of expertise.
How to determine if you already have a wireless network adapterMany portable computers manufactured after 2000 have wireless networking built in. However, because the antenna is hidden inside the computer, it's not easy to see.
To see which network adapters are currently installed in your computer
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.

Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Network Connections.

Microsoft Windows XP displays your network adapters. Wireless network adapters are labeled Wireless Network Connection. If an adapter displays a red X, it is disconnected. If the Network Connections window is blank, your computer doesn't yet have a wired or wireless network adapter.

I have a Dell studio laptop, a D-Link Modem and a Belkin Wireless 54MBPS router. Is it a simple thing to "marry" the two? Do I just follow the Easy install wizard? Are there some security measures to...

It should be straight forward to do, as you don't have to have the same manufacturer throughout to get the wireless working, just as long as the wireless network card that you are using has drivers for the operating system that you are using.

Just follow the installation instructions the wireless adapter, and as long as you know what sort of network encryption you are using (WEP, WPA, WPA2), and the wireless key, you should not have a problem.

Hope this helps, and good luck :)

Hi I have installed a netgear wireless usb adapter wg111v3 onto a PC (on another PC i have a netgear DG834GT router). After installing the adapter the "signal strength" is EXCELLENT and the "status" is...

You might not be getting a correct ip from your wireless router.

first, try to power down the computer and your netgear router for about a minute or two. turn the router on first. once the lights are stable on the router, boot up your computer. if your still not able to access the internet. try this

go to start > control panel > network and internet > network connections or network and sharing center > right click on wireless network connection and go to properties > highlight "internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" > left click on properties, the wireless network connnection properties will then be opened.
make sure that the radio buttons are on "obtain an ip address automaticaly" & "obtain DNS server address automaticaly".

When I install XP on my dell and try to create a network connection, it says I have no network adapter. But my LAN cable is plugged into my computer and modem etc. What's my problem?

Did you reformat the hard drive? You may not have loaded the drivers for your network adapter. (In that case, your sound probably won't work either, and possibly other devices.)
If you check in the device manager (see here), you'll see it is disabled or not installed.
You need to locate your Drivers cd, or download them from Dell and install the drivers for your network adapter, reboot your system, and it should appear in the device manager and function. Here's a basic troubleshooter that will help you to sort this out, and here's a more advanced version in case you run into other problems. This excellent tutorial will help you to update the drivers for your system.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

How did you fix wmp54g Linksys PCI network adapter driver code 10 problem? I googled on this and got tired. Everyone poses this question, but there was no appropriate solution that works around this...

Try this first:
Shutdown PC. Take adapter out. Boot. Install software. Shutdown PC. Put adapter back in. Boot.
If that doesn't work try this:

Shut down the pc before removing or installing adapter.Uninstall device, uninstall software, remove all oem*.inf and oem*.pnf for Linksys products (searched by keyword "Linksys"). Also one of Microsoft drivers was provided for this so I've decided to change its name. After reboot and normal installation procedure everything works ok.

To delete the necessary files go to and use Netcheck. Easy because this great tool will automatically set-up and install the device for you.

Are there any "!" marks under device manager?

There's a possibility you installed the network adapter driver, but not the chipset driver.
