You could try cleanining it first that would be a simple solution
Go buy a video head tape or due it yourself radio shack has video head cleaner. Remove cover unplug clead small silver audio head on right side. good luck

there's a section in the book that talk about audio you have to set the blu-ray on the right setting for the sound to go to your speaker. hope you can do it i had the same problem with mine. pierre

The tracking needs to be adjusted. Sometimes it's a knob on the VCR, and sometimes it's a control on the remote. Adjust it for the best picture, and the sound shoud be restored.
