Mountain bike. How can I fit front mud flap?

There is a big hole, almost like a pipe inside the fork, below where the fork meets the handle bar stem. Standard front mud guards on mountain bikes basically have a plug which mounts into that hollow hole of the fork. The plug expands as the bolt holding the mud guard is tightened, squeezing itself against the wall of the hole and grips.

26113093-52evhm5fwu3odbzoicmgq2ee-4-0.jpg The plug should be available at some hardware stores, or one can use something like cork or rubber or even plastic to create one. Two offset pieces of material can expand and grip to the walls of the hole when bolted together. The same bolt can be used to hold the mud guard at the same time.

I just purchased a Protocol 1 bike. I need to raise the handle bars. What is the procedure? Thank you for time. Carter McFall

Loosen up the goose neck in the center of the handle bars. There is a bolt there. Directly under that bolt you will see a large nut. Get a pair of channel locks or a crescent wrench and loosen up that nut and you should be able to push up or pull down to loosen the handle bars and change the height. Once you get them where you want them, remember to tighten up the large nut as well as the bolt on the goose neck.

In putting together my 26"

Loosen both nuts on front wheel.
Stand bike straight up, or set bike upside down on seat and handlebars.
With fingers on fork and thumb on wheel, pull wheel so it is centered on fork.

Now tighten one nut part way. Keep holding wheel.
You may need somebody to help.
Then tighten other nut.
Go back to fist nut and tighten a bit more.
Repeat back and forth tightening until nuts are tight and wheel is in center of fork.

How do you raise the handle bars on a mongoose scorch bike?

there should be an allen wrench bolt on top of the handle bar shaft. loosen that but not to much because you dont want the tightening nut to fall off. now put the front tire between your legs and try to wiggle the handle bars back and forth while pulling up if it does not move try loosening it a little more and take off the first bolt on the shaft and that should work. i hope this helped you

My MTB handles seem to be to loose , when I let go of the handles there is no stability. How do I set this?

This sounds like te neck of the bike has come loose, tighten the bolt that's right above the frame and underneath the handle bars, there will also be a little washer-type thing that's directly under the bolt and you must tighten that in order to shield the bearing from moisture. hope this helps, Daniel

Sounds like you have brake chatter. You need to "toe in" your pads on the front brake. Most new brake assemblies have a wedge shaped washer between the pad holder and where it mounts. If you loosen the nut that that holds the pad holder to the assembly and turn the washer you can see the relationship betwween the pad and the rim change. Turn the washer so the pad is toed in slightly(the end towards the front of the bike). If your brakes don't have the shaped washer you can put a crescent wrench on the brake arm and CAREFULLY tweak the toe in. Be gentle and good luck!

How do I attach the hadlebars?

the bars go throuhg the hole down into the front wheel. on the bar where the the neck goes into the frame there is a hole in that a long bolt goes in that, then the wedge shape nut goes on the long that runs down the neck into the frame that the front is in. make sure that the wedge bolt will line up with wedge on bar. place through frame into wheel so the neck bottem out get your ratach and start cranking as it get tight line up neck w/ tire and lock it down pull up to check turn head just in case
