1) weak or worn out starter relay module.

2) compressor too small fridge *(common on energy star units) leading to early failure/wear out.

3) compressor working again defrost unit stuck on defrost.

Modules can be replaced and offer a temp fix....but most of the time its a sign the compressor is ailing and will fail outright.

If you have a diagram of the fridge you can unplug the defrost unit and see it things improve.

Uaka 024JAZ condensing unit comes on, fan and compressor start up, fan remains on, compressor shuts off in appx 1 min , pressures appear to be headed to normal op range. I did not see a run cap for this...

This unit uses a dual run capacitor. There is no start capacitor involved.

The dual run capacitor is possible weak, also check all the electrical connections for tight fitting connections with can cause motor/compressor overheating.
To test a capacitor properly you need the proper test meter capable of reading uf readings(within 6% of the stated rating on the capacitor) "C" common to "F" fan and "C" to "Herm" terminal, the higher rating for compressor and the lower for the outdoor fan. [(example= 25/3uf 370v) 25uf=compressor, 3uf=fan motor.]

Aircon is only blowing ambient air with no cooling effect. the indoor and out door unit appear to be operating normally. am I out of gas or is the compressor not running? what could cause this to suddenly...

First of all check your compressor is working with correct amps. If yes, service your unit to improve better cooling. If compressor not working find out the root cause for it. Please call repairman to find the fault.
We can only give solution by having particular cause or error code is stated by you.

And also follow these tips always:
To get proper cool, keep the tips as follows:
1. Check air filter is cleaned. 2. Check indoor coil is cleaned. 3. Checkindoor blower motor is working. 4. Keep in cool mode. 5. Set temp minimum 3degrees less than room temp.6.Check compressor is working with correctpressure.
Thanks. Helpful?

All fridge is not cooling , only down to 55 degrees

how dirty is the condenser, it should be cleaned once a year for optimum performance, high temp = hi amps = compressor out on thermal even though fan is running (trying to cool compressor), is the comp hot to the touch if it is it is out on thermal, is there plenty of room for ventilation? u could have a failed starting component which can be caused by above stated condition, defrost timer can also be suspect as it is the switch between defrost and cooling operations, a dirty condenser/ lack of proper ventilation will cause the contacts to burn or stick "all fridge" is made by danbury i am not familiar with them but i am pretty sure u can google them for a manual

My fridge of 3.5 years KitchenAid Model KBRA22KMSS00 all of a sudden is making weird noises as if the compressor is continueously getting turned on and off. Also, I have noticed the freezer is not working...

if the compressor is turning on and off you will only have partial cooling/freezing at best .if this is what is happening there are only a couple of things that can cause it,firstly listen to the fridge at the rear for an audible click when it turns off,if this is heard it is stopping on klixon overload due to either a faulty overload or faulty compressor, this is a sign of excessive amp draw, the other thing that can cause this is a faulty thermostat,it can be checked by bridging the thermostat resulting in fridge now not turning off and freezing everything, hope this helps

Problem has returned to Maytag fridge

I note this is a very old post. The compressor is not starting and what you were hearing was the PTC relay energizing followed by the KilXon thermal overload kicking off the compressor start sequence. What happens is that the PTC relays sometimes get a heated contact. Due to the weakened state of the contact it can cause a buzz. Even with a goo PTC relay you would hear the compressor buzz if it was not starting. In that case the run capacitor may have failed or the compresor rotor is internally locked at which point the start cycle will repeat every 3 to 4 minutes as the thermal overload cycles and the compressor will not start.

Thanks for choosing FixYa

Compressor is extremely hot

Compressor will be hot to the touch. You stated the fan was replaced and then said the fan is not cooling. If you replaced the fan and it is now operating, reinstall the panel you removed to install the fan motor. That panel determines proper air circulation to cool the system.
