Question about AT&T Lands Phones

2 Answers

I had to purchase a new AT&T cordless phone system since my last set was destroyed by lightening. My old system was CL82409 and my new system is CL82209. I have 3 expandable handsets from the old system that I would like to connect to the new system but can't register them. What do I need to do?

Ref CL82209 register new handsets

You must first de-register the orphaned handsets from their old
(lightning destroyed) base, then they can be registered to the
new base.

To do this for each leftover handset...

1. When the old handset says "Connecting..." and goes nowhere
else, enter *331734 [menu] and it will soon beep and display
"Not registered"

2. To register this handset to your new base: on the base press
the "Handset Locator" button and hold it until the "in use" light
comes on ( ~ 4 seconds ), then release the button and set the
new handset into the base phone cradle. After ~ 30 seconds
it will beep and display its "Handset #" (next in sequence).

3: Note: the base has a limit to how many handsets it can handle,
it is twelve handsets maximum for the CL82209.

If your new base is fully populated ( ie, a handset is already #12 )
you will have to clear all the handsets from the base and
re-register them in sequence ( it is the only way to 'rescue' the
places occupied by lost handsets ). Twelve is still the maximum
number of handsets that can be used.

To clear the base of all registrations:

1. Press and hold the the "Handset Locator" button until the
"in use" light lights and then starts to blink ( ~ 10 seconds ),
release the button -- then press it again briefly while the "in use"
light is still blinking.

2. The base will beep and all handsets will display
"Not Registered"

3. Follow the instructions above for each handset in turn to effect
new registrations: press "Handset Locator" ~ 4sec ( in-use light on ),
set handset into the base cradle, etc.

The manual is available from: www.manualslib.com
but does not describe all of these procedures.

Good luck !

According to the manual starting on page 52, you need to de-register all handsets then re-register the handsets one at a time. The manual covers both cordless model numbers so the handsets should be interchangeable. I have included a link where you can download the manual if you need it.

The circuits in my tv were destroyed by lightening. If I get the parts, is it something I can fix?

Your TV is 7 years old. Fixing various circuit boards will not guarantee that your tv will work, or if it does, how long it will work.
You are better off buying a replacement. If you don't have the money for a new one, look for a factory refurbished model.

How do I delete all personal info. from system prior to recycling? (I purchased a new Uniden & want to recycle old one)

There should be a option somewhere in the menu of the phone that will allow you to reset/delete all data on the phone. If there is not then sadly your going to have to go through and delete everything manually.

Can I connect a CL82409 handset to a CL82409 base system

Yes, and no.
When you buy the new corded base station (CL84109) with 1 handset, that base unit by default is "paired" with only the 1 cordless handset that came with it.

While you can plug both base stations into the landline wall plugs (RJ-11), and when the line rings, both base unit phones will ring and will each operate as independent corded phones would.
But, in this scenario, the cordless phones communicate only through the base unit they are Paired with. The cordless phone paired with the CL84109 corded base unit will not be able to transfer or Intercom between the cordless phones paired with the CL82409 base unit.

However, if you want to transfer the cordless phones that originally came with the CL82409 base unit to work directly with the CL84109 corded base unit, you can likely "Pair" them to work directly with the CL84109 corded base unit for a total of 5 cordless phones to be paired to the CL84109 base unit.

Consult the User Guide that came with the CL84109 base unit for instructions on how to Pair additional cordless phoned to this base unit.

The CL84109 can be expanded and paired with up to 12 cordless phones. So, this should be do-able.

Keeping in mind that the CL82409 will no longer have any phones paired to it and will thus be useless from that point on. (unless you pair more expansion cordless phones to it again)

I have purchased 2 Uniden phones in the last 3 or 4 months & one quit working before Christmas & I bought another one & now that one is done for.

I think returning both items if you can should be considered, the manufacture has a problem with the design that needs to be addressed and you are entitled to phone system of much better quality.

I am having major static on both hand sets. I have reported to the phone company. This has just started to happen in the last 2 weeks. I have nothing new electronically. My land phone plugged in is not...

It is possible one of your neighbors purchased a similar phone and you are on the same channel.
Check your instructions and see if you change the channel.

I hope this helps.

Uniden Tru8885-2

The older Tru8885 phones will not work with the new base unit. My recommendation would be to ebay those and then buy new ones or find replacements for your new base on ebay also.
