Question about Frigidaire FRS26RLECS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

My Frigidaire side by side compressor comes on for a few seconds and then goes off, fridge is approx. 6 years old. I have problems with ice being hollow at times as well but replacing filter fixes that. What can I test to see what the problem is with the compressor. I found some forums talking about a white box on the side of the compressor, I have a black two pronged thing on the side of mine. Model FRS26LF7DS7

I may have given you the wrong model number, FRS26LF7DS7 is the one on my fridge. I do not see that part on mine. I have a flat two pronged item on the side but not the part number 30 unless I am not seeing it. Any suggestions?

Thank you, I have found the part on the compressor. Now I just need to find someone who has the part on Sunday, so far no luck. Will it hurt to let it do it's thing until tomorrow when I can hopefully get the part?

Here is a parts diagram for the parts on the units compressor
Click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Frigidaire-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-FRS26RLECSN/1428/0165000/R0504049/00006?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

Part numbers 30 and 55 are plugged into the side of your compressor.Which is located on the outter lower back side of the unit.
99% of the time it will be part number 30.

I hear a clicking noise or freezer and refrigerator are warm
This is the most common repair for this issue.

Start Relay

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator.
Remove the lower rear cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this (Photo below). Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it's bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it's bad and needs to be replaced. Inspect it carefully for any burn marks, if it has any replace it. If not, most of the time it's ok.

. A quick check on the compressor is to remove the start relay. You will see 3 pins connect a multi meter set for continuity. You should have continuity between any of the 3 pins. If you do not the compressor is bad. Also check from each pin to a good ground on the cabinet. There should be no continuity if there is the compressor is bad. A 3 in 1 start relay can also be used as a substitution. Just make sure it is rated for the horsepower of the compressor. If you replace it and it doesn't work then the compressor is bad and you

Still getting the same part number 30 for FRS26LF7DS7

    click on the link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...

    Maybe this is happening.

never mind the color it has no bearing on the part they come in black and white.

The two prongs you may be looking at is for part number 55 to plug into....

pull the capacitor off be careful with it...do not touch the prongs! It can still hold a charge!

Now pull off part number 30 from the compressor. The compressor will have three prongs coming out of it that the overload/relay plugs into.

No it won't hurt anything....the relay acts as a safety so the compressor will not over heat. If the relay is completely bad then the compressor will not start.

Unplug it for 30 minutes to an hour and it should start up again. Problem is your compressor is no good. Get ready for a new fridge in 3-6 months.

Hi, was wondering if you could help. I have an Electrolux fridge Model ER6632I that has suddenly stopped cooling. This fridge is approx 8 yrs old. I opened up to the rear of fridge and found that...

Seems that the compressor has some fault within the unit as it takes in more current under pressure. Sometimes it can be due to fault within the compressor, failure of the valve , O-rings. Now shut down the fridge for about 6 hours and then plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. If there is no ice formation we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. , if RPM of motor is low check capacitor.

Hooked up waterline to side by side frigiedaire,

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

Frigidaire humming freezer not cold enough

For the 25 year old freezer: a replacement compressor of the same BTU rating can be obtained and used as a replacement BUT at 25 years old I DO Not recommend the expense of a compressor replacement.

To the owner of the six year old freezer. The buzzing noise is more than likely the compressor cycling on its overload protector. This is an indication that the compressor has failed. In this case also I do not recommend replacing the compressor. If it was in warranty the manufacturer would bear the cost. Replacement compressor come with a one year warranty.

My Kenmore Fridge (bottom freezer type) not freezing

Look for problems you can see. Check for frost on the back wall of the freezer, If you find frost on the back wall locate the defrost timer and rotate the clutch head screw clockwise SLOWLY until you hear one click. With the timer now in the defrost position you will hear sounds in the freezer compartment such as expansion, sizzling, after a few minutes. If after say 25-30 minutes the system does not return to cooling mode ( Compressor starting) rotate the timer again SLOWLY until you hear a second click. This would indicate a bad defrost timer. If you get no defrost your problem could be a defect in the heater circuit such as an open heater or defrost thermostat. Normal defrost time would be 18-22 minutes.

Kenmore Fridge 4 yrs old side by side model not cooling

Hi. Your refrigerator is under 5 years and the compressor is still under full warranty. Call Sears and get it fixed parts and labor included. There should be no charge to you whatsoever. Make sure they understand that on the phone when you set up the appointment. You would be better off having a different technician from Sears come out to your house, as the one that came was not honest with you. Good luck, Mack
