According to the Bernina website (right side of page, under "key features"), the machine has a USB port. Presumably, one could plug in a USB drive and expand the memory of the machine.
Click here to go to site. Then click "USB Interface and Bernina USB Memory stick"

Is it possible for the consumer to download firmware for bernina 730

Hello, Charlotte -

The Bernina 730 sewing machine was manufactured between 1963 and 1982, before Bernina came out with their first computerized sewing machine, the 1130 model.

Are you asking about the Bernina Artista 730 sewing machine, instead? If so, the answer is MAYBE.

I did find a brochure for the Bernina Artisa 730E model, which has a Microsoft Windows operating system built in and the myartista portal (online.) This is the link to the brochure (PDF document):
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/15724/Bernina-Artista-730e.html?page=2#manual

You may find this information on Bernina software products and which versions of Microsoft Windows software they are compatible with instructive:

Best wishes.

Bernina 730 how do I change feed dog pressure it is way to high not touching fabric when down??? Help please

There are actually two Bernina 730 machines (confusing, huh?). One is the 730 Record from around 1960. The other is the more modern 730 computerized model made in the 21st century.

The 730 Record has a hidden pressure adjustment. Lift the top cover and locate the screwhead on the very left side (left of the takeup lever knuckles). This screw loosens or tightens the spring that applies pressure on the presser foot.
The manual can be downloaded here, although it does not show the pressure adjustment:

On the computerized 730, the pressure adjustment is on the screen (pg 37 of the manual):

Bernina 730 Record Service manual

Service manuals are difficult to find for most sewing machines, which Bernina is not an exception. However, there is a Yahoo Group called "BerninaThirtySomethings" that has conversations, documents, photos, etc. for the vintage Berninas including the 730 Record. You can join the group (must have a Yahoo email account) and download a variety of documents including a "Setting Manual" for the 730.

Where are the carbon brushes located on a Bernina sewing machine located? It is a Bernina Record 730, B2-730, EPI 2 - 40 -0803, 85/37 W 7250/min. Thank you.

THE MOTOR USUALLY HAS A LARGE SCREW. WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREW THE CARBON BRUSHES WILL SHOW. THERE IS USUALLY TWO. YOU CAN TAKE THEM TO A LOCAL MOTOR SHOP TO GET NEW ONES.

I just bought a 730 Bernina sewing and embroidery system. I just tried to send design to embroidery machine and got the message I have no memory left. How can I add memory?

My suggestion is to transfer unused designs onto a USB stick or connect your sewing machine to your computure and save them. Then you can delele them and have enough space to put additional designs on your machine. You can call your dealer and ask, but I dont think it can be done without sending it back to the manufactor. If it can be done it would know doubt be fairly expensive.

How do I get more memory for my bernina 730?

Resetting factory settings in some models will only reset the settings of the machine and does not effect the stitch memory.
to clear the stored stitches from memory try the following.

press «clr/del» and left / right arrow
button at the same time
• release both buttons
• leave Memory by pressing the
Left / right button
• Memory is now completely
deleted

You can hold a max of 30 stitches in memory on most models.
