Since the top buttons are working fine, i doubt that the remote is faulty. Sometimes its due to moisture/dust accumilating on the remotes board and creates a barrier against the board and the buttons. You may need to open the remote and clean the surface of the mainboard.

Hope this helps

I have an old JVC TH-p7 home theater system. My remote control stopped working. I have an Philips universal remote control, but I can't find the code needed the TH-P7

If you cannot get the Philips to work you could always look to purchase another JVC remote that is compatible with the TH-P7. I believe that the remote model# is JVC RM-STHP7U. You can find the replacement remote by using the remote control search engine below. Here are the search results for the JVC RM-STHP7U:

How do you Open Sony rm-yd059

SONY RM-YD059 remote is easier to disassemble then other models. Slide battery cover open 1 inch or half open. Using a plastic toothpick or similar device pop cover using the groove. There are three sliding locks on each side. You will now see six screws holding halves together - remove. There are six more clips holding remote together. Starting at the top working towards the bottom, there are three per side, location of clips at red and blue buttons, at between 4&7 and 6&9 rows, and finally at muting and jump buttons. Voila - Happy cleaning. Note: directional ring is keyed with thin and fat tabs, fat tabs are positioned towards the bottom.

Disassemble or open the remote control Sony RM-YD035

if Sony Remote RM-YD035 does not change channels or turn off TV, the buttons got dirty coz those are you most used buttons.

You can repair Sony Remote RM-YD035 yourself. It's quite easy and fast, with perfect result!

To disassemble or open the remote control Sony RM-YD035, first remove a single screw in the battery compartment. Then use a very thin but strong screwdriver and insert it between top cover and the body at the back part of the battery compartment. Move the screwdriver up and down and slowly move it to the left and to the right and continue along the perimeter. Use two or three such screwdrivers and in 2-4 minutes the top cover plate with buttons will separate from the body/bottom/casing.

Clean both parts thoroughly. And then gently put them back together in the opposite order. The parts will snap closing.

You are done.

Mine is now working perfectly

The remote just magically stopped working, even after new battery

Hi,
Have you tried pressing the 'input' button again this time to switch from video to tv? This happens in quite a few cases where 1 remote is used for many products. Please try and let me know.

Try this

1. Get camera phone
2. set camera phone to to take picture
3. point remote at camera and look at the camera display
4. press buttons on the remote, you should a light from the Remotes IR.
5a. If NO light is seen, your remote is broken. you can try replacing the batteries to double check
5b. if Yes, light is seen. Your remote is working and you may have a problem with the TV.

As a double check, get a remote you know is working and try the same thing to verify that you are checking the remotes correctly.

Did you install the batteries correctly?
Some remotes (Universal) need to be re-programed when you install new batteries.
Go to remotefinder.rca.com/default.aspx?site=rca for proper codes.
