Try to reformat the memory. Dail code *#7370#
I am telling this because this problem is not so rare in this model. This problem can be related with the Memory Card.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

Paul, you have to first, ensure that the funds on the phone is sufficient to send the message, that is if it is a prepaid network.
If that is in order, then check that there was no tampering with the message center number. To check your message center number,
Go to messages,
Then message settings,
Then sending profile.
You would see various profiles, but your current profile would be the one highlighted.
Select it, then select message center number, and verify that its correct.
If you dont know the number, verify it using another phone, maybe a friends, but of the same network.
Hope that was helpful?
Have a lovely day.
