NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead

What connection do I use to connect a sony blue ray disc to on a Yamaha htr 6030 reciever to play music cd's

You said "...on reciever cd out in the audio box..." but it should the reciever IN that you connect to. Also is the BlueRay player capable of playing CD's ? When you press play on the sony remote, do the seconds start counting on the screen ? (ie: is it playing, but no sound is coming out?)

Volume to about between 40 and 28 causes receiver to turn off

It sounds like protect circuit is kicking in due to excessive current. If an OHM meter is handy, check for shorts on your speakers. If not disconnect one speaker at a time from the back of the reciever. Play unit at the volume that it fails. If it then plays fine you've isolated the bad speaker.

Suddenly, I can only hear the sound faintly, even though it's turned up full volume on my Yamaha HTR 5560. What happened? I've played around everywhere with the converter now. Restore defaults anywhere?...

Have you checked the MUTE function?

NEVER turn the volume up more than half-way for any sound problem. Otherwise, if you suddenly find the switch that's out of position you could blow your speakers.

What converter?

What channels, what source(s)?
