Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

not quiet a solution dugguly but i've just had the same problem in reverse, i moved to the us with same printer, ink ran dry, it won't take hp94. after 3 phone calls and 4 emails with hp i learned that all hp printers sold after 2004 are regionalised, therefore a us printer will NOT WORK with UK bough cartridges and vice-a-versa. the only way round this is to call the HP support and ask to be taken through the step by step guide to reseting the region of your printer to the UK regional setting OR and this is my option, get friends/family in the US to ship US cartridges to you in the UK.
