Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS15 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

Panasonic PV-GS15 camcorder is jammed open. The tape holder elevated when it was opened, but looks skewed and doesn't open. The front (toward the lens) is slightly higher than the back. The camera won't close now. When a battery is attached sometimes it makes whirring noises and says to Push the Reset Button. Pushing the button makes the whirring stop, but the camera is stilled jammed. Taking off the plastic cover over the USB etc. ports doesn't help. If this requires professional repairs, do you have a suggestion for Honolulu? Thank you for your insight.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS15 Software

What u need at the minimum is an addon card for downloading(refer to the manual for the exact No. it is something like IEEE1395 or so) Then connect the cam to this thro' the cable.
If u use windows xp u have a movie maker. u can use that s/w. Else try to get pinnacle studio or studio 8 to dump and edit etc.
all the best.

SOURCE: push the reset button

let the camera sit alone for About 20 min,so that the camcorder automatically turned off. I turned it off, then back on and did not receive the reset button prompt.
if that doesn't work unplug the battery and all power and plug back in.

SOURCE: NEED HELP

G'day,

I also have the same problem and after almost buying a replacement I thought I would try one time to get it to go.

What I did was start the cam without a tape in it, let it bring up the little red icon indicating no tape inserted, (it hadn't started flashing "PLEASE RE-OPERATE AFTER PUSHING RESET BUTTON" at this stage) then I inserted my tape. Hey presto, it works although for how long I don't know. I'll immediately start burn my tapes to disc while the going is good.

Hope this helps someone

Make sure your tape tab is open. See if this works. Sometimes the tab should be closed to prevent eraser or recording over existing film but sometimes the tape tab has to be open to allow for playback or dubbing?

You need 3 cables Yellow, (Video) + Red & White, (Audio L&R Stereo) Or Mini-DIN, for SVHS Video cable, this is ONLY for Video, Audio, is still Red & White. Or Component, where you have 3 Video Sockets, cables, Green, Red, Blue, All video, all color to color, both ends, and again Red & White for Audio. Sometimes there is FireWire, or HDMI you need a cable and the PC MUST also be equipped, You need software and drivers for FireWire, of HDMI..

Hi, after looking at the manufacturer's site, I didn't see a download for a specific driver for the pv gs15. However, you might try to run a free scan here for Panasonic drivers and see if it has the driver you are looking for. Good luck, hope this helps!

Your tape has a small latch on it that closes to protect from recording or eraser and opens to allow for playing or dubbing. Slide it open and see what happens.

Panasonic PV-GS15 Camcorder problems

someone already posted this somewhat barbaric solution, and it worked for me: gently hit the bottom of the video camera (where'd you put the tripod). not really a gentle hit...more of palm slap....not hard but not soft. moderately, I guess is how hard I slapped it.
