Question about 2wire 2700HG-B Router (2700HGB)

1 Answer

I need to know the Broad Band password on my 2Wire 270HG-B router. This PW has 8 digits. When I try to change it directly, ATT Auto Service kicks in to "resolve the connection problem" and when it's done tells me it has reset the router with a 6 digit PW, and it tells me what it is. But then re-looking at the Broad Band PW it's still 8 digits. I get the impression that ATT is resetting a different PW. Now how do I reset the Board Band PW? If it is to reset, and your reset directions are quite clear, what else gets reset to the factory defaults, and are they straight forward to change? I do have an unusual problem with the router as it apparently was originally set-up by someone else. I got it as a promotion and at least my birthday in the set-up is NOT mine, and as I follow the the ATT proceedure for changing the Broard Band PW it chokes on the other identification data, e.g. zip code etc. Do I get to change these values after Reset?

Tell ATT Service that the router must not be password reset, or to deactivate ATT Auto Service, after that, go and remove the routers power, unplug it from ATT and replug it to the power, after that, use a toothpick (or something pointy) to press the reset button, then wait until it turns on, go to your Routers Settings (commonly an IP (192.168.*.*)) and change the password, after all is done, replug it to ATT

How to install to att 2wire 2701hgb modem router

Plug power cord into back of modem and then into an electrical outlet. At this point you should see the lights on the front of the modem beginning to come on.

Check the front of the modem for a solid green DSL light. If the light is still blinking, allow a few more moments before proceeding to step 5. A blinking DSL light indicates a break in the network and will require the help of your service provider if it does not turn solid green.

Open your internet browser and type the default gateway into address bar. The default gateway will be provided by your service provider. Newer model 2Wire modems automatically direct you to the installation instructions when the browser is opened.

Click on "Run System Setup Wizard" in the lower right-hand corner. It may require the system password. This password will be provided by your service provider.

Select your timezone and click 'Next.'

Enter your ISP provided login information and click 'Next'. This should authenticate your credentials on the network and complete the installation.

I want to block facebook on my att 2wire router i dont know how to access the router from my main pc to block facebook and my space

192.168.1.254 or 172.16.0.1 are the ip addreses you have to type into your browser while your computer is connected (wired prefered) to your router. Once the login comes up you need to type in username and password which are...2wire (username) with blank password OR Wireless (password) with blank username... You can make your changes from there... if you have any further questions let me know....

LIke this if it helped you !!!!! Please!

My att 2 wire keeps flashing red on and off for dsl and then the green wireless light goes off and internet goes down. I get a msg that the broad band cannot connect. I have checked and double checked...

Hi
This is Neo . Check the Filters in the phone line if you have installed the filter . if there is no filters before the telephone , install a filter . Whether the phone line are connected properly and check the wall point where the connection from the DSL and telephones . Check the cords and try changing the RJ11 cords . RJ cors the phone thin cords .
NOTE : FILTERS SHOULD BE INSTALLED FOR TELEPHONES BUT NOT FOR 2 WIRE .

Hi, my 2 wire ATT wireless broad band Internet router isn't working. Flashing red lights notes

You need to RESET router then configure it .For that press hold RESET button for 10 seconds then all settings defaults. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Trying to hookup an ATT router 2701hg-8 i've lost the instructions can u help?

hi..
If you want to hook it up wireless you need to synchoronize it to laptop. look 4 the last 3 digits of SN # its your network name. you needto connect to it by searching for network within range. click on your network name and hit connect it will ask for password which you can find near the SN under barcode it the 10 digit number enclosed in a bracket. after that you still need to configure your 2wire.
just the same procedure if you will just use a direct connection via ethernet cable just connect the 2wire and pull up internet explorer to configure it (firefox will not work on this). use address bar to access 192.168.1.254 look at the bottom right hand side near the box icon you will see run system set up wizard click it and set up a pw or if its ad\sking for one and you dont know it just click i forgot to reset pw system key is the 10 digit number in bracket. click again on run system set up , click next one keycode is encoded, pick any timezone. concentrate on user name and password field its very important and case sensitive. username is your AT&T primary user name and password. just tyoe it accurately, hit next and BINGO you'll be connected...

goodluck!

Can't use 2wire router for cable internet

You probably only need to change the connection information inside the 2wire. go to the 2wire homepage using "192.168.1.254/setup" or "192.168.0.1/setup" it asks you for a keycode. Get the keycode that says its for DHCP, doesnt matter who the provider is on this page.

Pvs connection

I had AT&T internet service with the 2-Wire wireless router (combined modem and router). You probably might have been given an installation CD but that often does not work well. You should be able to interface directly with the modem or router with your web browser possibly (http://gateway.2wire.net), and see the status of the connection, although to talk to these devices you must put in a username (usually "admin") and a password to enter the interface.

Your best bet is to actually call the technical support for the Internet service. Look on the AT&T paperwork you go with the modem or modem+router or any billing statement that show the possibly 877 number for HighSpeed Internet technical support. They will walk you through step-by-step until you get your connection; listen carefully to the often heavily accented voice. It usually never fails.
