Hello, I think I have the same oven as you, and yes the oven doesn't seem to work unless the clock has been set.

On my oven, there are 4 buttons and a dial below the digital clock.
To set the clock, you need to turn the dial whilst holding any two of the 4 buttons down.

For me it's a two handed job.

The springs in the hinges are probably tired. There is no adjustment you need to buy new hinges for about $50 for a set. Changing the hinges is a fairly simple operation for a person of average dexterity. I've just done the job on our oven.
