Completly free copy of windows 7 boot disc

If it tries to boot up, Borrow a Repair disk or Operating System Disc from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker.

Run the Check Disk Utility.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc or a operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot from it. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with white letters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice the percentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run to completion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows. Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair when the options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recovery console and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

GX620 Dell, will not boot, 3 green steady lights and power lite, usb light....when i power on, it looks at the hard drive, then stops. monitor has blinking cursor...no bios comes up, and cannot access...

Does anything ever post to the lcd screen when you press the power button to boot it? Does it every show you things like which key to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup?

I think you have a corrupt or missing boot file or system file. The blinking cursor is indicative of that. Try running the Check Disk Utility from your XP CD.

My computer i completely wiped off i need to put window xp back on it. how can i do that ?

Before you start, you must have your Windows XP installation CD and the product key available.

  1. Start your computer from the Windows XP CD (or boot disks). To do this, insert the Windows XP CD into your CD or DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
  2. When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears on the screen, press any key to start the computer from the Windows XP CD.
  3. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to begin Windows XP Setup

How to reinstall Xp-home on NB205? Currently running trial vers. of Window 7

Have you found Win 7 to be as unstable as vista? I thought so. The trial of win 7 probably deleted XP, so you will either need a factory reset disc or an XP install disc. Insert either into the CD drive and boot from it. Follow the on screen instructions.

I have a acer 5920 laptop and i forgot the login password

If you have Windows XP try this:

When booting up your laptop right after post (the beep) press F8 key and select safe mode. From there at the login screen you should get the welcome screen, select Administrator. After the desktop has loaded, open start menu, control panel, user accounts.
Inside here you should be able to change/remove your password.

If you have Vista or if the administrator on XP is password protected too try this:
You have to reset or crack the password with a socalled Live CD.. A kind of system/program running from a cd outside Windows..

You can try and download the ophcrack live cd, burn it to a cd and leave the cd in the computer and restart (You can use the program ImgBurn to burn it as a image):

ophcrack download site: http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download.php?type=livecd
ImgBurn download link: http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.4.2.0.exe

How to burn it with ImgBurn:
1. Load ImgBurn.
2. Switch to 'Write' mode.
3. Insert Disc in Burner.
4. Select Image to burn.
5. Click 'Write' button.
6. Restart computer with cd in it..

You may have to the change the boot order in the BIOS setup if the cd doesn't start..

Not opening my laptop

Here's what you need to do to fix it: Find some way to get Partition Table Doctor (http://www.ptdd.com/download.htm) and put it on either a live boot CD or from a secondary hard drive installation. Once you have that, Scan the partition for errors and select fix boot... Then if you're running Vista get a copy of Vista Recovery Disc (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window... burn yourself a copy of the disc, and run it at the boot of your computer. Once the cd is loaded, click on REPAIR WINDOWS, select COMMAND PROMPT, then use this command: bootrec.exe /fixboot

If that doesn't work use: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
and see if your windows boots.

IF you have windows XP, boot up with the Windows XP cd, select Repair (R), go into the command prompt (selecting which windows installation you want to modify) and then type this command: fixboot c:

See if your computer boots now.... The important thing is to try to repair your boot which has been deleted or corrupted, that is why it gives the error: err2err3

Try different recovery tools like Table Doctor http://www.ptdd.com/ in conjunction with your recovery cds (windows xp installation CD and Windows Vista Recovery Disc)
