Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I recently installed a series of drivers for my Vaio VGN-TZ17GN running XP and while all others work fine, the video driver has reset the display resolution from the original 1366x768 to 1024x768 and cannot be changed back via control panel, only to a smaller 800x600 setting. How can I change it back to the original resolution, and will it require a new video driver?

If you're using the newest driver, it should support the physical display's maximum resolution. If your old display driver worked fine, roll back to it. If you can't, then you need to contact Sony to find out where to get the proper driver.

After xp installation my sony vaio vgn-sz2xp display did not appearfully.black spaces are appeared on the both side of the screen......... kindly help me its too urjent

I would guess that the video driver has not been installed? If it has, try changing the display resolution to see if it will fill the screen.

You can obtain driver software for this machine at the following URL:

I have sony viao notebook model vgn tz17gn and installed xp the screen resolution is small and i adjust in display but it is same any help pls

Hi, you simply need to download the drivers for the graphic card, go to control panel and click on system/click on hardware tap/click on device manager, you will have an explorer like tree click on display adapters most likely will be highlighted in yellow in your case make sure you have all the drivers for other things as well it is a time consuming process but essential, you can find the right drivers buy accessing sony's website, if you can not find your model in your own region(sony has a regional website) try searching other regions since many models manage to make their way to other regions. I hope this works for you best of luck

FN keys don't work on Sony VAIO VGN-SZ18GP

The solution is as follows, which worked for me:

- Install Windows 7
- let it update all the drivers that it needs to
- Install additional Sony drivers that you need (XP drivers work just fine, but make sure to install them in Administrator mode, so, Run as Administrator), such as camera, fingerprint scanner, etc
- Install the Notebook Control Device Driver (without this the other software does nothing)
- Sony Utilities DLL
- Sony Shared Library

* restart computer *

- Sony Video Shared Library
- SUS (Setting Utility Series)

* restart computer *

- VES (VAIO Event Service)

After this one the Fn keys will start to work. The S1 and S2 keys don't work due to something to do with UAC (but I don't need them anyway)

- VAIO Control Centre (will allow you to change what the S1 and S2 keys do, even though you can't use them :) )

That's it and it worked for me.

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

Sony vaio motion eye

Windows Vista is not the greatest at working on proprietary machines with drivers intended for XP. Can you get a driver from SONY for the motion eye that supports VISTA? I had Vista on my new machine (Dell) for all of 3 minutes before I uninstalled it and put a brand new copy of XP on. It's stable -- and works. Vista is squirrelly.
