It might be that the installer that you have there for your printer is not compatible with your operating system. What you can do is to download the latest driver which is available online.
You can find the installer of your printer in the manufacturer's website. Let's just say you have hp printer, you go to www.hp.com. I don't know how to find the driver of your printer because you didn't provide your computer's operating system and the brand of your printer. But, if you know the website of your printer's manufacturer, then, just go to support and download. And, find the driver from there.
