Question about Sony VAIO Digital Studio PCV-RX680G (PCG-RX680G) PC Desktop
I tried to upgrade the memory. I mistakenly put DDR2 memory. After I powered on I smelled somethig burnt. I thnk the wrong memory made some parts short. Then the computer shows nothing on the screen and no HD access.
Are there any method to define which parts need to be replaced?
Probably get a techician to have a look at it. If u smelt something burn, then most likely it was due to a short circut on the motherboard in which the motherboard is faulty.
Take out the RAM and power the PC back on again. If it doesnt turn on, then the motherboard is faulty and you will need a new one.

Tips for a great answer:
Jan 13, 2013 | E-Machines T5082 PC Desktop
Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
just to be sure
If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.
first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system
you should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible
hope this helps
