What color is missing; is there any theme to the deviation in color; and might the problem be your monitor? Check that out and reply under a more specific problem description than Generic PC Desktops. Learn to adjust your monitor in case it merely drifted, too.

The hard drive, motherboard, or some other critical component may be failing, or just the OS or hard drive corrupted. If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" (available fairly cheap online) to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive. That way, at least you may not lose your files.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore or Reload on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer. Good luck.

on the desk top right click go to properties a window will open select: personalise on windows7 (not home starter edition)
  1. Open Desktop Background by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_47.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Desktop Background.

  3. Under How should the picture be positioned, choose to have the picture fit the screen, tile, or be centered on the screen, and then click OK.

If you choose to have a centered picture as your desktop background, you can also have a color background to frame your picture. Under How should the picture be positioned, click Change background color, click a color, and then click OK.

Windows 7 Starter edition comes with one desktop background, which can't be changed or customized. Please see this link for details.

Display problem on my vaio VGC-LT23E desktop. Horrible resolusion. I tried to restore it to an earlier day but still same problem. Now it is not connecting to the internet either. Please help...

Both issues are from the restore most likely. I would say both are driver related issues. Max color when no driver is present is 16 colors and low res.
Go into the device manager.
  • Right Click Computer and select Properties
  • Click on Device Manager
Any yellow ! or ? indicates a driver issue. You will need to go to sony's support page on another computer and download the drivers

How can i change the colors of my desktop back to normal. i have a old school desk top the box ones

You should be able to go into display properties and select Windows Classic as the theme.
Right click on Desktop
Select Properties
On Theme tab select Windows Classic and then click apply.

If you have customized the Windows Classic theme and saved as Windows Classic, then you will need to edit the registry to remove those customizations. If this is the case, reply to this solution and I will research and let you know where to make the changes. Beware that incorrectly modifying the registry can cause the system to not boot or have other problems.

Best of luck, Jim

Im about to restore muy computer to factory setings and i want to make a cd so idont lose all my pictures

You can use copy and paste, copying all of the picture files and pasting them to your drive in the computer located in the start menu, or you can use windows back up utility. i just put a cd or dvd in, then open the computer in start menu and then open up to where your picture file is located copy it, and go to the computer find the dvd drive or any drive you want to use to store the pictures and information, then right click, and paste, it will save all your stuff, you can then open it up to check before you restore. Once you restore you can then just paste it back the same way.

Does anyone know if i need a restore disk for my Acer Aspire AST690 UP926A, or is it built in to my desktop. If so, which F key do i hit? I tried the F8, F10 F11, basically all of them, and none give the...

Usually F1, F10 or F12 are the right ones to hit when your computer starts to get the RESTORE DISC function. You will have to be able to hit the key several time when the computer starts so that it accepts the key press. IF you have a partition that has the restore disc on it, I would restore your computer to its original configuration and then I would mirror your discs onto dvd's or cd's for safe keeping. If your harddrive goes out, you will have nothing to restore your computer with then. When you find the correct F key it may also have the option to make your own restore discs. I would do this as soon as possible.

I'm wondering if their is a way to bring some of my stuff back on my aim profile and my aim mail I had right clicked on something and I guess I accidently clicked on select all, and what it did was it...

Sorry to say but with AIM/AOL once you delete something it is gone unless it's e-mail. For e-mail you can check the recently deleted folder and if it is still there then you can restore it. Hope this helps.
