My lexmark z2300 will not print an alignment page. The prompt comes up, I click 'print,' and nothing happens. I can print other documents but the cartridges are not aligned so my pictures are ruined. Please help!

Make sure you are using the correct cartridges for your printer model. Try to remove the cartridges from the printer. While the printer cover is open, check for any loose transparent strip or any foreign objects that may block the ink cartridge carrier. Close the cover. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When your printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the cover. Check for errors. If none, reinsert your other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error.

Did all that before I posted the problem. Cartridges are correct & direct from Lexmark site.

SOURCE: Alignment problem

Here's a solution from Dell Technical Support hotline - just hit cancel as soon as the pirnter starts the alignment process. It worked for me! You will have to cancel the alignment page every time you turn on your printer, but that's better than no printing at all.

SOURCE: align cartridges error

This means one of the cartridges is defective, they cant align if they cant print.  What i did to fix this problem is insert 2 working cartridges and get it to align properly, even if they are low on ink, then lift the cover and the cartridges will move to the center.  When this happens pull the power cable out, then insert the full non functioning cartridge. Plug the power cable back in.  I tried this with a color cartridge, the color cartridge was non functioning but i was able to print in black.
Basically you align the cartridges and then swap them so the printer thinks they are still aligned.
The color still doesnt work and it is probably a defective color cartridge.

SOURCE: X2480 unable to bypass print/scan of alignment page

To solve the printing problem..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Lexmark z2300 keeps printing blank sheets

Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues with your model:

  1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
  2. Go to Programs.
  3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.
  4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.
