What does the question mark mean

The question mark means there is no bag in the vacuum. If there is a bag in place, check to see if the bag is covering the bag switch located to the bottom right with the bag door open. Remove the bag that is in it and find the switch. Replace the bag and make sure the cardboard on the bag covers the switch and close the door. The vacuum should run.
If it doesn't run you should take it to a vacuum repair shop that works on Electrolux vacuums.

Disassebiling the unit body

It is fairly simple to get the unit apart, but putting the unit back together properly does require some mechanical expertise.

The unit is held together by the two side rails or "bumpers". Once these are removed, the unit will split apart in two halves.

  1. Ensure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Open the bag door, and remove the bag.
  3. With the bag door open, peel about one inch or so of the rubber from each of the side rails back
  4. Insert a tiny flat head screwdriver into the T shaped channel the side rail sits in and lightly tap it in about 3/4" or so
  5. Pull the side rail out using a needle nose pliers. Repeat for the other side.
Once you have the side rails removed, your Electrolux 7000 unit is easiest to disassemble and reassemble if laying on its top. Remove the bottom half of the housing first.

Here is a quick video of the disassembly.

I would recommend taking the unit to an Aerus dealer or a local professional repair shop for any major repairs.

Where are screws located that access main motor compartment in panasonic canister MC-V9647? Something is rattling inside and smells hot. Belt or motor?

If the model is the same as pictured, the screws should be visible.
If the model is older like I think it is, the screws are going to be a tad tough to get to, but not impossible.

First you will need to take the bag door off. Open it like you would to change the bag and then push the bag door back farther so that the hinges "pop" out. Generally how i do it is put it on the counter, with the bag facing you, open as far as you can, grab the top portion of the bag door and push it back quickly.

Now, when the bag door is off, with a flat screw driver, the colored housing above the gray bumper will come off. insert the flat screwdriver in there and pry it open a touch. do that to the other side as well. Once both sides are open, you want to slide the screwdriver towards the back of the unit and gently pry the back off.

under there you will find 2 screws (if you need to go that far at this point) and you can remove the back of the unit easily.

Good luck,
Mark

I can't recoil the electrical cord. What do I need to do?

Open the bag door, remove the bag (leave door open)and then with a hammer and a blunt instrument(wooden dowel) Strike the side rubber "bumper" rails towards the open door side of the machine from the back of the vacuum. You should get it started and then it should easily pull out from both sides. you can remove the bottom of the vacuum and remove the cord "guard" to allow the cord to go thru also. The back is held on by the union of these two halves by dowel pins(plastic nubs) Sometimes the "spring" mechanism gets jammed from over pulling. Just simply roll the smaller wheel to retract the cord manually. You could try spraying the rollers with a silicone or graphite type spray to allow free movement of the spring. Hopes this helps. My Electrolux Aerus auto rewind chord mechanism is broken. Is there an easy way to remove the back of the canister to replace or fix the spring there?

Take out the bag and keep the door open.
While the bag door is still open, turn the machine upside down so you are looking at the serial number.
Pull the cord out one foot.
Use a puddy knife and put it between the rubber side rails and the **** end of the machine.
Use a hammer or malett to hit the putty knife from the back of the rubber bumber toward the bag door.
Pull the rubber bumber stright out on both sides.
Once both bumpers are out pull the lower body of the canister from the **** end toward the intake of the machine.
Once the bottom is open you can then service the motor, cord winder, switch, and all other components.

I have the 8920 bissell proheat steam cleaner. i

You must have a suction problem. Try checking the lint filter, which is located in the top clear plastic section (the section that goes on top of the bladder section - it has the dial to switch from floor to tool use). There is a small plastic lint filter (about 1 inch square) with a little door on it (on my model it is red plastic) . Open the door, remove the hair or whatever is clogging it and hopefully your problem will be solved. And the lady you got it from is correct, the dirty water is stored in the area that surrounds the clean water bladder.

Need to open the electrolux vacum

The locking key on the side of the vac has a tightening wedge on it so it doesn't slide easily. Spray the entire key top and bottom with WD40 or similar. Grasp at the bag door area with vise grips and pull the key straight forward.
If the key will not slide, you will need to take a large flat bladed screwdriver and lay the blade flat at 90 degrees against the back end of the key. then strike the side driving the key forward toward the bag chamber door. Do not twist.

Hi, Fitted new paper bag to this cleaner but have 'No' suction. With bag removed no air movement can be felt at outlet(ie bag entry). Have you any suggestions?. Many thanks, John Pessall.

What kind of model is it?
If you have the bag door open just to feel if there is suction it won't work. The machine would have to have its door put back on before suction can be ascertained. In the meantime check the hose that leads into the bag, or main dust channel - it may well be clogged as well as motor filters usually located under the paper bag.

Bag Full Sensor

Opening The Unit:
Remove the hose, open the door, and remove the bag. Making sure that the door is open wide enough, pull the rubber strip on each side of the canister toward the opening until they are completely removed. With a little shifting, you will now be able to pry open the top cover from the bottom. Remove the obstruction sensor hose so that you can completely separate the halves.
Note: If the strips will not move toward the front, the you will have to slide them off to the rear. You will need two screwdrivers to pry open the top rear of the unit far enough to release the back cover.

Locating The Switch:
The "trip" switch is located on the inside top cover under the power button. The trip switch is activated by the sensor valve next to it.
