WHERE WOULD I INSTALL AN EXTERNAL SOUND CARD?

First, shut down the computer. Next, you will need to locate an unused expansion slot and then determine which type it is. Most newer PC's have "PCI" and "PCI express" slots (there are others). See the image below to help you identify the slots in your PC.

8339a41f-4529-4fb9-8f0b-ca085dffd732.jpg

Choose a sound card that will fit one of these unused slots. Read the directions with the sound card. Some will have you install software first - others want the card installed first. Install the card into the slot and secure in slot with screw or clamp used by your PC and software in the order instructed.

You can also install a USB sound card instead of an internal type. This is required if you do not have an available slot or if you are not comfortable opening the PC. Most PCs with sound cards built into the motherboard will automatically be disabled when a second card is introduced to the computer - USB type or otherwise. If yours does not, you may have to disable it in the BIOS or physically remove to old sound card installed in one of the expansion slots.

Good luck!

How do i install video cards in my emachines ET1352G-03W?

Your machine will accept a PCI-e x16 Graphics card. If you are going to go to high high-end, high-power card, ensure that you have the proper power connectors for the card. Mainstream video cards are powered from the PCI-e slot itself. Also, be advised that your machine only has a 220W power supply, so high-end cards may draw too much power from an already anemic source.

To install the new card, simply power off the PC and unplug it. Open the case and locate the PCI-e slot (closest to Power Supply). Take out the proper blank at the rear of the machine to allow the card to be installed. Install the card and secure it with a screw (or whatever means the case provides). Hook up the card's power connector (if equipped). Secure the case. Move your monitor's cable from the onboard video connector to the one on the new card. Power up the PC and watch the bootup. The Operating System should detect the new graphics card and will install, at a minimum, a generic driver for it. To install the drivers supplied with the card, install the CD/DVD and run the install setup program.

Installed a Graphics card EVGA 6200 AGP 8X in my PC HP Media Center PC m370n now keeps showing failure notice

Did you install the drivers for the Graphics Card before you plugged the card into the computer? If not, remove the graphics card and reboot using your old video connection, install the driver then install the card and plug your monitor into the newly installed card. If you still have an issue try booting into safe mode.

New graphics card installation won't work. during start-up it does not find this piece of hardware, even though the fan on the card is running.

Hi klaas_smit_w,

You might have forgot to install the graphic card driver.
But first, make sure that the graphic card is installed properly in the slot of the motherboard.
Restart your PC and your PC must detect your graphic card immediately.
Install the driver of the graphic card and reboot.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

Evo N800c sound driwer

You can't install a sound card in a laptop because it already has a built in sound card. You can do that in a desktop PC because you can disable the built in sound card so you can install a new one.

HP Pavilion 8860-sound card

this model of PC has an integrated sound card. this means it is located on the motherboard so you can't replace it. this could be a good thing for you since you can install pretty much any PCI sound card that you want. There are cheap ones and very expensive ones available. Depending what you use your PC for even a cheap one will work, such as if you just play CDs, internet radio etc.
The instructions to install a new sound card will be included with your card, but it is one of the simplest things to install. (open case, insert, close case, let windows install drivers.)
