Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Five-burner 90com gas cooktop - gas pressure on all burners appears to have gradually reduced to very, very low - smallest burner so low you can barely see the flame Technician charged us large bucks to pronounce that all the burner heads had become fouled and corroded and should be replaced - one look at any of the heads shows this is rubbish I've noticed that the cooktop has a regulator controlling supply to all burners. Is it possible that the setting of this has drifted and, if so, can it be adjusted and where do I find an actual St Geroge -savvy technician to make the adjustment?

Since it has turned cold my flame on cook stove has yellow flame

It may or may not be related to outdoor temperature but it appears that your burners don't have enough air. See if there is an air adjustor under the burner in the gas piping.

Control knob doesnt adjust flame height?

Use a manometer to insure lp gas pressure is correct. The regulator for the stove may need adjusting. The air mixture adjustment may not be correct for PL as well.

Low gas pressure, suspect blocked gas jet , cleaning would probably cure this, if in doubt contact your local gas safe engineer

Whirlpool gas range whistles when burners are turned on. What is the problem?

Your gas inlet valves are turned up to high or there is air in your system. Most of the time the burners are set either to high or to low. Meaning that not enough or to much gas pressure is being forced through the system.

Two of five cooktop burners fail to light

you can try to scratch the area where it grounds to with a wire brush or screw driver this will help sometimes. sometimes when it archs down try tighten the screws to lift up the ignitors into the hole better. or if this doesn't work replace the ignitors.

One burner on a 6-burner gas cooktop misbehaving

sounds like the air /gas mixture is off.look at where the burner meets the gas valve (the knob) under the grates and play with the adjuster turn it slowly while the burner is on and this will change the value of the air/gas mixture good luck

I would have someone come out. Perhaps a gas plumber first. Gas is not something you want to fool around with yourself.
