Question about Dell Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Dell inspiron 1520 laptop keeps freezing after a few minutes after being turned on. It wont respond to Ctrl +Alt+ Delete and doesn't sleep when its closed. The screen turns black if you keep clicking the curser and the only way to turn it off is to hit the off button (which I hate doing!)

Boot the computer in safemode. check if it will still lock up. if it does then run a hardware diagnostic test. if it doesnt clear the startup by opening the system configuration utility then disabling the items under the startup tab then rebooting to normal mode. regarding the computer not going to sleep mode when closing the lid, visit the power options in control panel and check the settings on what the computer does when you close the lid.

Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

Could be a virus - download a program called hitman pro here: http://download.cnet.com/Hitman-Pro-3-32-bit/3000-2239_4-10895604.html and run it, that should free you of any viruses, if the problem persists try reinstalling explorer and if that doesn't solve it try using the recovery partition on boot up and try repairing.

Inspiron E 1405 laptop won't turn off and displays black screen

If it turns black again, try to check first if it's just the LED's that are defective. If you push the monitor 40 degrees down, and you can see very faint display from that angle, then it's probably that the LED's are the culprit, and you can have it replaced for a less price.
