You can check your Windows logs or Quicken forums to find out about that first, then ask here once you've done the basic legwork. I can't help but notice you've caled it an Acer PC Desktop problem but that you've somehow focused in on Quicken 2008; No.

Read the system requirements on Quicken 2008; odds of fuzzy bagels to uneaten lox say your PC doesn't meet them.

How do I move a copy of Quicken from my desktop to my laptop.

Hi.
When you downloaded quicken, it should by default save to a sub folder named "Download" Depending on your PC's operating system, the download folder is normally found in the "My Documents folder" Click on the Start buttom (Windows) in the bottom left corner of the taskbar. Inside the Download folder should be a file with the name Quicken.exe. Copy the Quicken.exe file to a memory stick or flash drive, then stick in into the usb port of the other PC. Click on the Quicken.exe file and it will run the installation of Quicken on the second PC. Install Quicken the same way on the 3rd PC.
Good luck!!

I just installed Quicken Starter 2009 for my wife's accounts. In the process I lost my own Quicken 2008 on the computer. I want both of them. What can i do to show both icons

Quicken Starter can coexist with QuickBooks, but not other versions of Quicken. Quicken Starter is intended for customers who do not have any version of Quicken already installed.

Quicken will not let me into my files without a password and I have never had a password.

There are two types of passwords used in Quicken: a password for opening a data file (also known as 'file password') and a transaction password.
If both passwords are set, you will have to find the password for opening the file first; then you can recover the transaction password. In other words you cannot recover the transaction password if the file password is set.

It is possible to break the transaction password instantly. Fake Password will be constructed.

Unless your document was created in an old Quicken (prior 2001), the password for opening is much, much harder to break.

The universal recovery methods (Brute Force Attack, Dictionary Search and Smart Force Attack) must be used for that. Unfortunately, even a single password check takes a lot of computations, so the search speed will be very slow (not more than 1000 passwords per second).

This means that the recovery of even a relatively short password will take A LOT of time. Use our Password Calculator to estimate the recovery time.

As of today, all our competitors offer a demo version that recovers short passwords. However, the recovery of longer passwords takes unacceptable amount of time. This means, one may try a demo version, find out that it works properly (on short passwords!), then buy the program's full version and find out that it is useless. Are you ready to spend four months waiting until your 7-character password is recovered?

In other words, this means that you can easily waste your time and money and get absolutely nothing in return!

LastBit Corp. proudly presents Guaranteed Recovery Service for Quicken. We will spend 24 hours trying to break a password to your Quicken document.
Since we will use the power of multiple computers, this will be equal to spending 6+ months of computations on a single computer. This does NOT guarantee the success; however, it significantly improves your chances. Most important - we will not charge you even a single penny if we find that we cannot recover your password.

Guaranteed Recovery service for one Quicken document is included into the program. If you need to recover more Quicken documents you need to purchase additional licenses of Quicken Password.
In order to use the Guaranteed Recovery Service, download and install the demo version. Run the program and select the password-protected Quicken file. You will be asked to select the recovery method. Choose "Fast Recovery Service" and then click OK. Quicken Password will send the recovery request to us. We will check if we can recover the password and send you the confirmation. Then you can buy the program and get the password. If we cannot recover the password, you have no oblagtion to buy the software.

Never lose your password again! Award-winning, multi-user, powerful, versatile and feature-rich password manager.
Important note. This is not a cracking or hacking site. We do not offer software "cracks", cracking programs or other hacking tools. Instead, we offer password recovery software and password recovery services. Password recovery software is also known as "password crackers" (or "password breakers"). Note that "password crackers" are not "software crackers". Software crackers are produced by hackers and are used to run illegal software copies. Password crackers are used to "crack" lost or forgotten passwords. Have you ever forgotten your password? We could help you...

Sometimes people ask us why Demo versions of our software are so limited. Here is the answer. Password recovery tools are very special software. Unlike regular software, a typical password recovery tool may be needed only to restore that much needed document, and nothing more. You use it only once, as opposed to system-checking, workspace-improving or security software. Suppose we release a regular time-limited fully-functional trial version. In this case we will inevitably lose a lot of our customers ("one-time users"). Developing good password recovery software takes a lot of efforts from our professionals, so we simply wouldn't be able to stay in business if we gave our software away for free. We have to offer you software with limited capabilities so you can have a chance to evaluate them, and we have a chance to get paid for the full version and keep bringing you better products in the future. Your understanding is much appreciated; if you choose our products, you won't be disappointed by their performance and support!

New installation on Toshiba lap top. Unable to transfer data from Quicken 99 on IBM lap top. IBM did not recognize flash drive. Copied to email and sent from IBM. 3 messages below with attempts to add...

Try reinstalling Quicken 2008 after uninstalling it first via 'Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel. this should help.

Also check out THIS article on converting Quicken files to new versions and other info..It may prove to be quite useful..

As for the IBM Laptop not recognizing the flash drive, generally they come with a driver CD. Try installing that on the IBM and see. If you do not have the CD, you should be able to find the driver from the manufacturer's website, or do a google.

Should you have any further questions, please feel to post them here. Please do not assign a rating until you feel your problem is resolved. I will try my best to help you further if need be.

Backing up a Quicken file

This is probably due to an update. Quicken and quickbooks perform updates in the back ground on a frequent basis. The easiest way to take care of this problem would be to create a directory called backup on the flash drive and instruct quicken to backup to it.

Provided you're using windows XP, click on My Computer, select the icon for your flash drive, F: Right click and create a new folder and name it backup. In quicken when you go to backup, just change where it says F:\ to F:\backup

this should fix your problem. Please email back if you have any problems getting it to work.
