Samsung HLP5063W DLP

I have had TV for about three yrs w/out replacing bulb. There is a loud hum more constant than not and the last two days a grinding screetching sound and the picture shuts off and the lamp/stnby/temp lights all blink. Sometimes after shutdown i can turn back on, then repeats itself. Do I need a new bulb ??

After the TV warms up (30-45 minutes) the TV hums loadly from the rear and when I hit the TV it stops for 10-15 minutes then starts again.

What can be causing a loud humming noise from the bulb area of a Samsung DLP television after replacing the bulb?

is the tv still coming on, if not its the bulb is broke, do not touch the bulb it damages it

How long do bulbs generally last?

Generally, a DLP bulb lasts about 8,000 hours (if a TV is on 10 hours a day, every day, the bulb will last about two years). A bulb can last longer if it's used less frequently. Typically, a bulb in a DLP TV for household use should last at least three to four years before it starts to flicker and needs to be replaced.

Thanks!

SAMSUNG DLP SLIM 50" AFTER I TURN IT OFF IT WONT TURN BACK ON TILL 30 TO 50 MINS LATER THE THREE LIGHTS IN THE FRONT BLINK. iT ACTS LIKE ITS GONA TURN ON BUT IT DOESNT IT JUST MAKES THE NOISE AND FLASHING...

Chris,

I had the same problem. I bought my tv at Best Buy and my warranty included a new bulb for the lamp. They only last about 2 yrs or so depending on how much you watch the tv. You can also buy replacement bulbs online that don't cost too much. BUT, you will need to replace every couple of years. The things you listed are exactly what happens when the bulb goes out. Hope this helps!

Screen went B&W and I hear a loud humming noise from the TV...

Hi John,

If you are hearing this noises, that's your Color Wheel.
The reason fot that is because your color wheel spins 5000rpms(revolution per minute) and something that modifies the balance if the disc can cause different things.Unfortunately in order to check if your color wheel is working properly you need to open your TV and physically check out.

Grinding= Most probably the color disc is broken and you need to replace it.

Spinning / Buzzing = The bearing of the wheel is loose and is loosing its balance, eventually it will brake.

The best thing to do is to take the color wheel out and spin it ,if you feel that the disc kind of wobbles or doesn't spin smoothly you have to replace it.

You can check DM they have very good prices

Hlp5063w 50'' projected samsung lamp won't come back on ?

It could be the lamp but don't overlook the lamp door interlock switch. If the lamp door is not aligned properly, you may have intermittent shutdown or no start conditions. You can temporarily cross the interlock switch to confirm that this is the cause.
