The replacement for model indicated is rather expensive. What you will find is all Hitachi remotes made from 1999 to date will operate that set.
2-12 means the set is in the Air band and not the cable band. A lot of these remotes are readily available on EBAY and other places, I have several Hitachi remotes and all codes for all their regular tvs, projection, LCD, and Plasma use the same codes.
All you need is a remote that will go into the menu and allow you to select Cable and then go and do auto program.
I have a Hitachi remote for a 1991 projection set and it works on all later sets, only a few features are missing for certain models.
It is either this or try a universal, but I suspect a Universal will not do what you want.
I assume you tried the cable on a working TV to make sure there is a signal on the cable line and that the cable terminal is OK. See if you can control the input selector and set it up for RF or TV reception. If OK, try to tune in channels manually or in auto mode. Do this in programming mode. If you notice any noise on the screen, this means the source selector circuit is OK. If there is no noise, the source selector may not be latched to the RF circuit output. Try to feel the terminal at the back of the TV set. If it feels like it moves when pressure is applied in various directions, chances are the solder connection for the terminal onto the circuit board may be faulty. Resoldering them would be easy for DIY enthusiasts. If it isn't the culprit, try the DVD. If it works fine, then the video circuits must be ok. The trouble could be from the video source selector circuit backwards to the RF block. Usually an IC senses the power condition of the DVD player. If it senses that the player is ON, the IC latches on the signal coming from the DVD player. See if there i a separate power button for the DVD. More later, please post a feedback
The set needs to be switched from antenna to cable in the setup menu. It is capable of either antenna reception or cable reception. Ch 2-14 are the same frequency for antenna and cable but above 14 they are different. That is why the picture is stoping at 14. After you switch it to cable auto program again. Thanks for using fixya.

when you ran the autoprogramming it scanned all the channels you are receiving.the dvd is probably plugged into a line or aux input on back of your tv.look for a input or source button on the remote. some tv's have more then 1 input source so be sure to scan thru all input choices.also if it is a dvd/vcr combo & if there is a coax out connection to your tv coax/rf input the tv and/or cable box should be on channel 3
hope this helps
