I LOST MY WEP KEY PASSWORD AND NOW MY ROUTER WILL NOT CONNECT TO MY LABTOP

Connect a LAN cable from your laptop to the LAN port on the router then open your browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
http://192.168.0.1
Login and go to the wireless settings. you can change the encryption settings and then apply them to the wireless card in your laptop.
If you cannot login to the router because you forgot the password etc. then you can reset the Netgear back to the default settings by pressing the RESET button at the back of the router until the LEDs all flash.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

I dont know my wep key

*For you to know your wep key you need to access your netgear router

*Open any web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. In the address bar, enter 192.168.0.1 and press the enter key. This will bring up the login prompt for most Netgear wireless routers. If that doesn't work, try 192.168.0.5, or 10.1.10.1 until the login window appears.

*Enter the username "admin" (again, without the quotes), and the password "password" in the appropriate fields, then click OK to login. If that password fails, try 1234, Password (with a capital "P"), or admin until you are greeted with the settings screen.
*Go to wireless setting then you can personalize your wep key :)

Hi I just purchased a HP laptop equiped with WLAN wireless. However it will not allow me to add my wireless connection in order to access the internet. I cannot remember my password to the netgear.

I DON'T HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY PC IS CONNECT TO THIS NETGEAR ROUTER. IF YOU FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD OR SOMEONE CHANGE THE PASSWORD. YOU MAY RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTING BY AT THE BACK OF THE ROUTER THIS A LITTLE HOLE A PAPER CLIP IS THE PERPECT TOOLS TO RESET IT. THE DEFAULT ID USER IS ADMIN AND THE PASSWORD IS PASSWORD. HOPE THAT THIS INFO WILL HELP YOU SOLVE THE FORGOT PASSWORD AND TO CONNECT TO WIRELESS PROBLEM.

How to install

look u need three things to connect wirelessly

1. Internet from Provider
2. Laptop with Wireless Card or Desktop
3. Wireless Router

pls check all 3 thingds in place connect an ethernet cable provided by netgear to ur internet provider modem if u have one and see u connect at INTERNET port of router at back

also see where u conenct at modem back there might be only one port so u dont have difficulty in it

then switch On ur Laptop Wireless from the button provided a light will blink with Dish Antenna Type icon or Tower icon then ur laptop will automatically detect the wireless router with name of default or Netgear or something like that

and it will auto connect to router

if u want to setup WEP security so no one else can use ur internet service u can setup WEP KEY for access u can ask me after u get connected

pls rate me WELL !

Netgear locking

I'm assuming we mean wireless security?

Run your internet browser - Internet Explorer or Firefox type the router address in the address field (usually http://192.168.0.1)

Default user name of admin and default password of password

Click the Wireless Settings link in the main menu of the DG834GT firewall. There are a number of options available with WEP the most basic. For basic protection select WEP, put in a passphrase (anything you like) and the router will provide you with 4 keys based on your passphrase - take a note of the keys. When you try to connect to the router wirelessly (laptop, game console, etc) the router will require you to input one of these keys to verify your access and that should be it.

For further information to go the netgear website and have a look at the manual - http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/dg834gt_manual.pdf

Resetting WEP Password on Netgear WGT624

If you hold the reset pin in for more than ten seconds(I always count to 15) it will do a Factory reset...this will set all back to factory specs

Then you can set a new wep as well as an admin password

I have a netgear wireless router, I also have a new PS3, I want to access the internet via the PS3 but have lost my WEP key for the router. Whats the easiest way of finding the WEP key Thanks Darren

wep key or router administrative password?
if you have router admin password, you just go to your router settings and reset, delete all WEP key setting
(i assume one that connect to your router is only the PS3)
The setting should be web-based.
connect a pc to your router using LAN/ethernet port.
Access the router (you should know the router
ip address) via IE ex: http://192.168.0.1/
Read your router manual for details.

Forgot password

To ilysurita, cj_mom, top_shutta…
First can I clarify what is meant by a ‘lost password’ …. The original poster here is asking about the password needed to login to the router configuration pages.

If you know the password to login to the router configuration pages, you can still get access to the network key (also known as passphrase, WPA or WEP key, PSK, pre-shared key) – which is the key Windows asks for to connect a new computer to the network. It will be found under a heading like ‘Wireless Security’ or ‘Wireless Settings’ within the router configuration pages. For this model, you can find the router configuration pages by typing www.routerlogin.net (or .com) into a web browser, or http://192.168.0.1

If you don’t know the username/password to login to your router, try using the defaults – for this model, they are admin and password.

However, if the router login username/password has been forgotten, the only way to regain access to the router configuration settings is to reset the router, as described in my posting above. I don’t know of any shortcuts to this one. :(

If you have to resort to this, you might want to wait for whoever set up the router to help with this. This is because resetting the router will remove all your settings – password, network key, ISP connection info – so you will lose your internet connection altogether until it is set up again.

On the other hand, if you’re willing to spend some time and patience, you can have a go yourself.

If you have your original setup CD this may contain a software wizard to walk you through it. If not, you might be able to download a setup wizard from the router manufacturer’s website, along with a quick installation guide (and a manual).

The Netgear site also has very clear troubleshooting and support pages which will help with setup, even if you don’t have any setup software:
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wgr614v9.asp

Make sure you use a wired connection. Also, print off all the information you need before you begin, as you will not be able to access the internet while you are setting up the router.
Good luck whatever you decide to do
