I keep getting a u1 code and my machine makes a horrible banging noise and I have to quickly pause it. Can someone tell me what is wrong with it?

U1 is unbalanced load. Try moving the clothes evenly in the washer if it is a top load. If it is a front load or top load try removing some of the clothes. If nothing works then it is more than likely bad tub supports

Replaced Transmission: everything working great, just not sure about suspension springs. 3 are very tight (tub base), 3 are somewhat loose (metal hangers). Is this normal?

If you can shake the outer tub in several directions without it banging the mechanism on the case, it would appear that you have it correct. If it were wrong, either the machine would 'walk' around the floor or make banging noises when it goes into spin with a full load of clothes. The tub should be free to shake, but in a controlled manner. Good luck and well done!

Washer tub tilts off center and bangs when spinning

Laundry is distributed unevenly. Move clothing around to even it out.

My Maytag Ensignia washer is not spinning well. It bangs side to side with even the smallest loads. It seems like something is loose. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need a repair mans help....

Try leveling the washer... If the washer is level, then don't wrap the clothes around the agitator...drop the clothes straight in, on top of each other evenly around the agitator. The Ensignia washer has a Dual action agitator... That means the clothes roll over them selves, instead of moving side to side, as with a traditional agitator. wrapping the clothes around the agitator will cause the load to be un balanced and then cause the "banging" noise... this should take care of the problem...

Loud banging noise when machine goes into spin mode. sounds like it is banging on the side. Please help !

Usually this is an out-of-balance condition caused by too much weight on one side of the tub, move the clothes around and try again.

Performa spinning banging problem

I assume it is not balanced. Try putting sponges under the feet of the washer.

Maytag performa off balance

Check the vibration dampers and the plastic mounts for wear. They should be solid to the machine.

Hello calmtouch,

You said,
When in spinning cycle, the barrel begins to move all over banging the washer across the floor. I don't even know what to look for.
Help.

sounds like the coupling connecting the tub to the transmission may be loose and throwing the wash tub out of rotation causing the banging and walking washer.
Bless You
Huuum
