Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a kenmore dryer model no. 11064872401 that won't start. It was working fine yesterday, then just stopped working. The light inside the drum turns on & off, but when I push the start button it won't work. I can hear a click when I push the start button that sounds like it's coming from the timer. I can't figure out what is wrong, because I can't find any fuses or anything in there. Any idea what the problem maybe ?

Unplug the dryer, pop off the bottom panel, open the door and remove the lint filter, then go back to the bottom and remove the metal duct that the filter slides into, you'll see the blower wheel.on the top and to the right you'll see a white piece of plastic, with two wires going to it,that's the thermal fuse, pull off at least one of the wires and check it with a meter,if it's bad change it out part number 3392519,if it's good move to the heater box,on the left side of it there will be a couple of thermostats, pull at least one wire off and check it with your meter, most likely it will be the one farthest to the rear, that's the thermal cut off part number 279769,if that's good check the thermostat in front of it that's the high limit thermostat part number of these parts will be bad, just have to check them with the meter for continuity, also while you have the duct off clean it out, also if the vent line is a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside duct, remove it from the back of the dryer and with a leaf blower blow it out, just stick it into the vent line and blow all the lint outside through the vent line, first go outside and make sure the duct is clear so when you blow it out all the stuff will go outside,if anything is on the outside like a cage or a screen remove it,all it does is block lint, this is why one of the parts popped,it's a safety because the dryer was starting to run to hot most likely from a block somewhere in the line or the dryer.let me know how you make out, you're sure there is power going to the machine?if so do the checks i told you about and you should be fine.

also one more thing to check, open the door, check the door switch, you should see a little paddle that the door hits when it's closed,if that's broken the dryer won't start, let me know how you make out.
