You could have a bad water valve.unplug it,if water still fills the machine change out the water valve, sediment gets into the valve, the valve can't close all the way and water leaks through filling the machine

Filliing even when door is open and not draining completely

Inside of the solenoid/valve are flaps that open and close upon command from the control center. When dirt, grime, or sand collect, it can keep the valve open or closed. You need to have a Pre-Filter system like a water conditioner to keep debris from entering the machine. In the mean time, remove the water lines Hot and Cold from the washer. If you have a vacuum hose that can blow and suck, do both at the ports on the machine. Clean all hoses out so no debris is inside the walls of the hoses. Tap the in/out ports on the washer with the back end of the screw driver to loosen up any particles that did collect inside the valves. If all looks clean and in order, use a hose screen in the hose attachment to the washer to keep debris out ( available for a few cents from Lowes) , reattach Hot to Hot, Cold to Cold.

Turn on the water valves and try to start fresh. If that fails, you need a professional service agent.

Whirlpool AWO/D4305 Washing Machine. The "Water

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Providing that the tap is turned fully on AND the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, this is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill!
Sorry but it needs a service call ;-0(
Good luck,

My washer will only use the hot water

  1. First, make sure that your cold water valve, behind the washing machine, is turned on, and water is coming out.
  2. If there is water coming from the cold water valve, this water goes to another valve inside of the washing machine. Open your washing machine and take out the Diagnosis Manual (usually found in the top portion of the machine with the computer boards, or on the back panel)
  3. Diagnose the Water Inlet Valves per the instructions in the Manual.

Whirlpool AWN 321 washer continues to drain water out of drum throughout the whole wash and rinse cycles. The consequence of this is the machine continually draws in hot and cold water to achieve the...

This sounds like a siphon condition. Remove the drain hose (the thicker black hose from the back of the machine) out of the wall. Now re-insert it back in only 6" going into the drain. When they go in too far, the drain in your house that prevents odors from coming back out of your drain causes a siphon that pulls the water back out when the washer is filling. Make sure to tie the drain hose down with a tie so it does not pop back out when the washer is draining/ spinning.
