Question about Zebra P110i ID Card Printer

1 Answer

My Zebra P110i is not printing it's cards correctly, When I print a card, there is always a 2mm blank line gap on the end of the card where the printer has not printed on it. I've cleaned the printer, calibrated it, used two different computers, and two different ribbons, updated the driver. I have tried changing the offset settings in the tools. However the line always remains. Any advice?

The Zebra P110i printer is an Edge-To-Edge card printer, which means it will print on the card closest to the edge as possible, however there will still be a slight line. Although a 2mm line is too big, should be no more than 1mm, there will still always be a line.

There are some advanced EC (end card) settings that could be adjusted but if the print goes too close to the edge, the ribbon will get cut.

When I try to print multiple cards, only 2 cards print, the same two all the time, the others don't

It sounds like you might have a job stuck in the print-queue. Best way to check is to start with a clean slate:

1. Shut-down your badge-software, and disconnect the printer from its power source;
2. Navigate to the Windows print center - accessible from the Control Panel as "Printers & Faxes" if Windows-XP, or "Devices and Printers" if Windows 7.
3. Right-click on your Zebra P110i printer, and select "See What's Printing" to open the queue, and see if there are jobs there. If so, click "Printer" on the menu, and then "Cancel all Document".
4. You also should ensure that you don't have any additional instances of the printer drive installed - they would show up as Zebra P110i (Copy 1), ... (Copy 2), etc. This occurs within Windows if you've disconnected the PC-end of the USB cord, and then plugged into a different USB port than originally used. If you have multiple instances, the easiest way to clean this up is to right-click on each sequentially, selecting "Remove this Device". Do this for each one.
5. Now you have a "clean slate". Connect the Zebra printer to the PC's USB, and then re-connect the power. If it doesn't power on, push the power button so it is on.
6. WAIT until Windows recognizes the pritner and you see the device is ready to use.
7. Open your badge software, and select a single card to print, and send it to the printer. If all goes well, this single card will print correctly, then the printer will come back to a ready status. Repeat for a second card, and make sure it prints correctly, and comes back to ready. If all is good, you've likely cleared the issues up, and you can proceed normally. If not, then there may be a physical problem with the printer, where it is not recognizing that a finished card has been ejected and the job is done, or it's not communicating that "done" status back to the host PC.

The cards I printed from this device are pixelated and I have no idea why. Is there any other way on how to print from this device?

Jpeg is a lossy file saving format so anything where the image can be lost to save space happens. Some fonts if a bit thin can do this in jpeg format. Can it also print from pdf? the one we have here is ok with pdf formats , just printing from the adobe reader works fine

Zebra P110i printer is making a noise when cards are feeding through to be printed and sometimes says Mechanical error. Print quality is fine but, cards occasionally do not fully drop out when print job is...

Check the type of cards you are using, they might be too thick. If you are using the regular 30mil PVC Cards then make sure before you load the cards you "fan" them, meaning try to separate the cards as when they build static electricity and "glue" to each other.

If that does not solver your problem, then you should send the printer for repairs, check your warranty status with your ID Printer Vendor.

Also, sometimes if you are using the Adhesive cards, the paper back of the card does not feed into the roller system of the printer.

On your cardfive configuration for the printer, there might be 2 printer drivers in the drop-down list, you might have the wrong one selected.

Zebra p11oi will not print anymore

Make sure you have the ribbon set right in the driver. If the driver says ribbon X, and the printer is loaded with printer Y, it won't print. (Make sure any driver settings are done while logged in with Windows Admin rights - "regular" users don't have sufficient privileges to make driver settings changes).

Also, check the printer queue and device settings. Make sure there are no jobs stuck in the queue ("Cancel all documents"), and make sure the printer is NOT set to "Use Offline" or "Pause Printing".

Other than these items, it could just be that the printer has lived its life and ready to be put out to pasture. Feel free to contact us for other questions, or to consider replacement options.

I have a blank line across all the cards

If the line is across the card from end to end on the long side in the same spot every time, then try cleaning the printhead. If it is still there then you most likely need a new printhead.
