Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop

1 Answer

My acer aspire 5570-2609 has loaded almost everything onto c disk. I have tried to move items from c to d drive and then delete that item from c drive but It tells me I am not alowed to do that.

I would normally drag and drop to the d drive. The item would still show on the c drive and I would try to delete the item but to no avail.

You're not allowed to do that because the "D" drive is where your system restore resides. If for some reason, your "C" drive has a problem and you need to restore it, that information will come from the "D" drive. I surely would not try to delete or modify it in any way.

I don't believe you understood my problem. I have to make room on my c drive and I can't delete many of the things I would like to put on my d drive. Most items go automatically to my c drive. My computer is supposed to be an 80 gig but has two 40 gig drives. When I move an item from c to d and it is now on both drives, and I want to now delete it from c drive, my computer tells me I don't have the "authority" to delete the files.

You are correct, i didn't unstand. This may be a case where you are only creating a shortcut on the d drive and leaving the data on the C: drive. Just what methoid are you using to move the data? Move, copy, drag and drop? Are we talking Windows XP?

I gleened this from Windows XP Bible 2nd edition by Alan Simpson as one way to do it.

Do the following to move the files from one partition to another:

    1. Open My Computer from the Desktop.

    2. Open the source files location that you would like to move to the target location specified in the Step 5. For example, D:\My Documents

    3. Select the files and folders that you would like to move.

Tip: To select multiple files and folders at a time, keep pressed the Ctrl (Control) button of your key-board, and select one-by-one files respectively.

    4. Click the Edit menu, and select the option Cut.

    5. Back to the My Computer Root location. In simple words, press the Back button on the toolbar until it availables.

    6. Now, open a location where you would like to move these files. This is the target location. For example, F:\Backups

    7. Click the Edit menu, and select the option Paste.

    8. Wait until the system moves the specified files and folders to the new location in the different partition.

This is very simple: you seem to not have enough hard drive space for a system update that your console is trying to install.

Error 8007 0070 occurs when you install an update or buy content on...

(I've pasted some bullet points for you)

" Error 8007-0070 occurs when you install an update or buy content on Xbox 360
Problem
You may see the following error code and message when you try to update your Xbox 360 console or purchase content:
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-8007-0070

Note
The "x" characters in the error code vary.
This may mean that there's not enough space on your storage device (mostly likely the Xbox 360 hard disk) to install the update or the content.

Solution
A console update or content download may require significant hard disk space. If you don't have enough free space, you need to move or delete some items."

You can probably get around this by using a 32gb USB thumb drive and moving some of your content that's hogging up your console's space onto that thumb drive temporarily.

Heres the Xbox.com info to get you started about moving and deleting hdd space--which also has info about using a USB thumb drive, too. Copy move or delete Xbox saved games profiles and avatar items

Find some other files to delete or move onto a flash drive to make some room. Make sure your recycle bin is empty.

Dvd is stuck in my ACER laptop how can I get it out

The Acer 5610 has an emergency eject hole to the right of the eject button on the right side of the computer. Find a paperclip and unfold it (or small allan wrench), push the end of the paper clip into the hole until you feel pressure. Press firmly and the optical disc tray should come slightly out of the machine. Grab and pull the tray out (gently). This should work even without power to the drive on any machine tray optical drive, if the tray mechanism is undamaged.

For a slot-loading optical drive, it's a bit trickier. You can try sliding another object into the slot and using it to pry or lift the stuck disc. The safest option is to use another optical disc or credit card sized item and double-sided sticky tape. Put a piece of the tape on the item and then remove the paper from the other side of the sticky tape. Slide the item into the drive with the sticky tape towards the stuck disc (down for most computers). Once far enough into the drive, lower your item and press the tape firmly onto the stuck disc. Lift up and try to pull the stuck disc up and out of the drive.

I hope this helps.

Dont have the original hard disk in my aspire 3000, but I want to restore it to factory settings ??

Go to the acer site, they have the software. I assume you had everything on the old hard drive. Load windows onto your new hard drive. It will detect all your hardware. Actually, since you changed hardware, it no longer is an aspire 3000. I changed out all my stuff in my acer aspire to keep it up to date. The only thing left is the box. As you change hardware the motherboard will detect and adapt. You may still see the aspire logo as it is burned into the bios.

Deleting files does not free up disk space

Note that "deleted" items move from their location into the "Recycle Bin".

So, "empty" the Recycle Bin, in order to reclaim the space.

Or, when deleting:
1. click ONCE to select a file/folder to be deleted
2. hold the SHIFT key down
3. click the DELETE key
4. release the SHIFT key

This will "permanently" delete the file/folder, immediately freeing-up the disk-space.

Not enought disk space

You will need to find out what is taking up the space. Pictures, games, or pther programs.

Check to make sure that the there are no items in the Recycled Items bin (the waste basket on the desktop). In Internet Explorer go to tools\internet options and delete all temporary internet files, these do not get automatically deleted.

Go to control panel and choose add\remove programs. Are there programs in there that you no longer use?

Do you have loads of pictures on your computer? Can you transfer them to a CD, this way you can delete the pictures on your hard drive.
