Question about HP Pavilion s7320n (EP140AA) PC Desktop

My problem is simple to describe: The computer starts and runs fine, except for the smell...and the heat. The smell resembles burning plastic, and the heat output is noticeably higher. There's no smoke visible. My question is this: Is this a fan issue,or something worse?Elwood

Laptops do tend to get hot from normal use but you shouldn't be experiencing a burning smell. Do you feel any air blowing from the vents? Download and install Fan Speed. This will give you some good information about your hardware temperature and fans. If you do have a failed fan and high temperatures, don't use the laptop until you get it repaired. You could fry your motherboard and/or processor.

It more than likey seems to be your fan if the heat from your tower is noticeably higher and the smell.

If computer still under gaurantee you will be able to get it repaired for free from the manufacturers.

If not, take the tower cover off, and get a hoover and **** all dust particles from the system.

You may also need to invest into another fan, this should stop the smell and also the overheating

Hope this helps and please rate thanks.

My Frigidaire oven model feb386wech emits a burning plastic smell when heating up and cooking. What's causing this?

After 16 years of service, the oven may be starting to consume itself. I have found melted light fixtures and scorched, brittle wiring. If you can't isolate the source of the smell, it could be time to replace.

Burning plastic smell when cold out run heater and fan inside car and out

Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.

A plastic lid melted on the coil, still smells like "melted wax", seems clean, what can I do?

You will probably have to replace the heating coil in the bottom of the dishwasher to get rid of the smell. The coils aren't that expensive and replacing them is an easy job. Hardest part is getting the dishwasher out from under the counter to do it.

When the machine is switched on there is a smell of burning / hot plastic. i have removed the front cover and there is no sign of any heat damage to the controls or PCB. The wachine works fine, except for...

Have got the same problem at the moment. Removed all the covers and checked the control panel ( no damage, no smell ) The drain motor ( no damage, no smell ) and the drum motor again no obvious problems. Checked the brushes on motor and they were fine also. Have decided to let whatever it is run itself to destruction and then hopefully i can identify it.
Will post on here if i can resolve.

My ge washer starts spining to drain water then stops

Sounds like the belt is loose. The burning smell is the belt heating up. The motor shuts down because it's heating up from spinning on the belt.
