Question about Microwave Ovens

Open Question

Hello, We have a Franklin Industries Blender Model # FR1355 which still works very well. However both of the silicone/ rubber seal rings for the bottom of the glass/ stainless containers have been misplaced. It would be a shame to have to discard a properly working appliance for the sake of a small rubber seal. Can you suggest where to get replacement rings? Thanks in advance for your assistance, JK

SOURCE: I lost the sealing-ring for

Most major manufacturers supply manuals online so if you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, you may be pleasantly surprised as usually, if available, one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, Dealer Network for spare part supplies as required.

The information is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

Do you happen to know the make / model of your blender? If you do, you should be able to go to the manufacturer's website and order a replacement "o-ring".

You did not specify a brand or model number of your blender; however, most blender jars will lift off their power base without turning or with only very little turning motion to release them from the base. The blade assembly should NOT come off as you remove the blender jar from the power base.

Were you successful in removing the bottom ring which normally screws on to the bottom of the blender jar from the powerbase?

You should make sure you have properly attached the blade assembly for your brand/model.

The blender blade assembly should be held on to the bottom of the blender jar by the bottom ring which screws on clockwise; most will have a sealing gasket that fits between the blade assembly and the sealing surface of the blender jar to prevent any leakage while in use. It will take much more turning to unscrew the bottom ring to release the blade assembly than it should to release the bottom ring from the powerbase.

Assemble your blender jar and blade assembly and try a dry run by placing on the powerbase, giving a couple of bursts of power, and then seeing if you are able to remove without the blender ring unscrewing.

Make sure you are comfortable with the action required to remove the blender jar from the powerbase before you put in to use.

Good luck!

I purchased the Danco 80701 "Repair Kit for Delta, Aquasource, and Glacier Bay Faucets with #70 Ball" so that I can repair a leak in my Delta kitchen faucet. The instructions on the package are...

Sounds like the old style center-control delta type faucet, rubber washers describe older type but still good. The rubber seats have holes in middle, supply water to the cylinder which diverts water to the spout, and has a seal over top of ball allowing stem for handle.

Think they are talking about flex-hose type faucet accessory getting clogged, Maybe: lift the flex-hose faucet housing off the center-control faucet body? Water to it runs directly from center-control faucet and if broken seat gets in narrow line could inhibit spray.

Kitchen faucet spout too has an O-ring under where it connects to the faucet body. Unscrew large nut where meets the faucet body unit (slip-joint pliers), once free of threads, spout should pull straight up, easy or slight tug. I use bent paper clip to remove old one trying to save it in one piece so as to get exact size (that's important) to replace, push on one side then other.

I have a Waring Blender 51BL25 that just stopped working. Can it or should it be repaired?

Hello Patricia. We are clearly living in an age of replace rather than repair. The reason is simple. Repair shops generally will not look at a small appliance for less than fifty dollars. Putting that much money into a repair than may be short lived doesn't make sense when a replacement blender is often less than fifty dollars on sale. Joe

yes you can bake cookies in the carousel on BAKE I suggest those new rubber looking bake plates help a lot to reduce the moisture that makes them soft.

I think they are silicone rather than rubber, i am sure you know the ones I mean

Silicone will not block microwave radiation. However, it isn't only cosmetic. The silicone keeps liquid that spills inside your microwave (or even steam) from getting into the guts of your microwave and rusting and causing shorts.

What product should be used to lubricate the support wheels under the glass turntable? Sucessive cleanings of the glass has not eliminated noise from the wheels during operation.

Use silicone spray, never an oil nor oil based products. The silicone spray has a carrier that evaporates after spraying, leaving only pure liquid silicone behind. It is non-toxic and non-flammable once the carrier has evaporated.

You can get silicone spray at hardware stores, and most cans come with a tube that assures you get silicone only where you intend to.

Sometimes, the noise is from gummy buildup on the wheel axles. If you can remove the wheels (some are attached to removable rings), try soaking in ammonia and hot water then scrubbing lightly with an old toothbrush. Then rinse well. If this is the cause of your problem you won't need the silicone spray.
