It is a AVR1905 and I have looked at the manual. At first the the input sources reset themselves and I had to select them again. I think the problem is it is locked on Analog. I have the receiver set on AUTO to detect what signals come in but it is always on Analog. I haven't found in the manual or in the troubleshooting section how to reset this.

Understand, but what I can't figure out is by just changing a DVD player why I would lose the surround sound capability. This has happened before where I lost all sound but going through the functions I got it back. Losing the surround sound has never happened and Denon instructions are not very clear as to what to trouble shoot. Any other ideas or a direction you can point me in? I appreciate your help.

Power remained on to the unit while I did the swap out. The blue ray player I got was an LG. This has a coaxial optical output.

Assuming you connected it digitally you may have to open the manual on the unnamed DVD player and find out how it puts out DTS soundtracks.

It's not just the DVD player, it's for all components - TV/cable, DVD etc. That's why I'm puzzled.

So it isn't about DVD sound or DTS, as originally stated, but ALL sound. Better clues get better answers.

IS the receiver a Denon AVR1905, as listed in the "problem with" statement? Have you looked in the manual?

Page 37-38. Lack of a DIGITAL indicator emans something's wrong with the input bitstream or connection.

If you're saying the settings got lost and it defaulted to factory choices and it lost radio station settings THAT would be a problem with its memory keep-alive battery, if it has one. Can you verify that is the case?

I don't know what the fix would be but to identify the problem in detail would help someone resolve it.

When you changed the player out did you have no power to the AVR for an appreciable length of time? Memories are finite.

You can test the theory by making some settings and then unplugging the unit for some measure of time. If it loses them right away it has no memory retention.

Yamaha RX-V595 Receiver will play Dolby Digital 3/2.1 audio Blu-Ray disc with player set to bitstream but will not play DTS-HD 3/2.1 unless output is set to PCM. Is this an issue with the Yamaha Recei

The optical connection (SPDIF) doesn't have enough bandwidth to transfer DTS-HD audio. To use DTS-HD, you must connect the blue-ray player and receiver via HDMI cable.

Each DTS-HD audio track on blue-ray includes also "normal" DTS audio, which is probably used when you select PCM. Player decodes it and sends decoded (non-HD) audio via optical cable to receiver.

I am trying to hook up my Pioneer vsx-455 to a LG LED LCD TV. I am not sure on how to do this and I can not find a manual anywhere. Can you help me?

your reciever does not have hdmi, so the audio is not going to be true DD+ or DTS for broadcast tv.

if your dvd/blue ray player has digital optical spdif, this can be used to transfer the encoded DD+/DTS digital audio.

the besat way to run your tv audio through the reciever is to hook up the dvd/blue ray player up with (perferrably) digital optical spdif, composite spdif or (least favorably) through the stereo stereo analog inputs on the reciever for "dvd" audio in and hook the video from the dvd/blue ray up to the corresponding "dvd" video component input on the reciever.

this way is only going to get your dvd/blue ray sound, next you need to hook up your cable box to the reciever so that you can get broadcast tv sound. hook up the cable box audio to the "tv" stereo analog audio ins, and hook the video to the corresponding "tv" video component inputs.

the component video inputs have separate jacks for red, green and blue ( labeled "Y" "Pb" and "Pr") and are capable of carrying a 1080p full hd signal. use the component video outputs on the reciever to output the video signal to a component video input on the tv, using the receiver's input selector to change the video source.

Preamp/Processor missing menus/options for DTS

Solved the recognition of DTS signal issue but the DTS options/settings in the menus are still not appearing - believe the previous owner may have upgraded the software. The solution for the DTS signal recognition was an output setting on the DVD (blu-ray) player - digital output vs analog.

Cannot get dts from my Harmon Kardon AVR 300 via my Blue Ray

I'm not sure if this solution is still necessary however:

I own a H/K AVR300 and have a PS3 hooked up via HDMI to the TV and Optical TOSLink to the receiver. I have no troubles selecting between DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1. I can even select trueHD whatever format but I can't detect an audible difference, I think that mode might be downgraded back to regular DD5.1...

Hope this helps...

Audio problem when connecting to a PS3

It seems the Denon and PS3 don't play nice together on DTS. If you take off the DTS setting, then the PS3 will use DD and you'll get surround for games and movies.
